Title: DIR-635, SharePort and Windows 8
Post by: roncsak on January 06, 2013, 06:32:19 AM
Hi there!
I'm running a Windows 8 operating system on my PC and the latest SharePort Network USB Utility program won't run on it. I tried running in compatible mode and as admin as well. I've tried the SharePort Plus Utility but it could not find my router.

I have another PC (notebook), where SharePort v1.17B01 runs well. My router firmware is 2.33EU, hw version B3.

Anyone could help, please?

I presume that older version of SP will not work with Windows 8 and is incompatible with it. There is SP v4 on the USA web site however I do not know if it will work with an EU router and maybe region specific. You can try it. I have not loaded Windows 8 nor used SP with it so I do not know if it will work. I currently use Windows 7 x64 and SP v4 works with several of my D-Link router models. I do not have a DIR-635 model however. It works with a DIR-655 and DGL-4500 which are my oldest model routers.

If you try SP v4 please let us know if it helps any. If it does not work I would contact your regional local DLink support office, level 2 or higher and inquire about Windows 8 and SP. If there isn't any resolution for Windows 8, I would recommend that you consider installing a USB to Network LAN adapter to use on your USB device instead of trying to use SP.

Be advised that the 635 has been "Phased Out" here in the U.S.
