ANOTHER affected device.  My 360 Slim's wired ethernet port was working haphazardly and is now not working.  Wireless works but I prefer it to be wired.  Damn you to Hell, mother nature!!!

What is the xbox port doing? Tried streaming some video thru it to test?
I would contact MS and get it fixed.

The XBOX doesn't recognize the ethernet cable and I know the cable is good plus I tried another known good one.

It does stream it through wireless, it's just the wired port.  It's out of warranty.  No big deal, I'll swap it with my daughter's.  Hers uses wifi only because it's not next to the router like mine is.

I do have home owner's insurance but I doubt it's worth messing with at this point.

And quit judging me about what I do in the bathtub!   ::)

 ;D your too funny.

Call up MS and I think repair costs are about $80 bucks, at least the last time I send something back to them that was out of warranty. Not sure what they are doing now for 360s. I sent back my 1st gen xbox. I still got it too.  ;D

Yah, I checked it out and it's $100 if I send it to them to fix using their online registration and such.  My only question is "is it worth it?"  When is the next Gen XBOX coming out?  2015?

Like you, I have an older XBOX FAT as backup so I'm good for now.  Odd thing is that it was hooked up to the same router at the same time as the Slim but the wired adapter wasn't affected.

Ok, well thats good info.

Up to you. If you can swap out and use wireless on hers then thats good too.
Not sure when the next gen xbox is coming. Not sure if I'll jump on it either. Gaming days are hard enough to find gaming time.

Ya wish the LAN wasn't effected. You and always add wireless to the LAN connection using bridged adapters and such. I tested those TreandNet and Asus adatpers on mine, works well. I'm still using the MS 5Ghz adapter on USB though. Hehe.

Yeah, I wonder why they went with 5GHz on the wireless usb adapter and didn't put it on the Slim?  ???

Wireless adapter on the zapped 360 works fine so it'll be good for my daughter when she games and chats with her friends on XBL.

I did some research and it looks like lighting strikes and wired adapter malfunctions are pretty common.

Not sure why, figured that maybe 5Ghz is harder to deal with. It's best in line of sight. Mines right under the 4500 router thats behind the TV.  ;D

Got my replacement refurbished 857 in today.  It was loaded with 1.01 FW and I reset, flashed to 1.02 and reset again.  Everything seems to be working great!   :)

WAN port at gigabit again and 6120 LINK light is blue again.  Everything is running stable so far.

This one seems to work better with my LT's wifi adapter.  My LT, upon waking from sleep would have to search for the wifi signal for 30 seconds or so until it found it and then would be fine.  This router never seems to drop signal.
