DCS 2121 - software environment like 1995

I have installed a DCS 2121.  I will not be recommending further because:
  • The only browser which works with the management module is Internet Explorer(I have mostly Macs)
  • The night vision (or even dark) is a joke
  • The samba recording does not work with OS/X (while windows and linux do work with OS/X
  • I have not found an SDK. The way the server in the camera is set is not what I would like and needs improvement
  • There is no way to restart the camera server remotely. Once it crashes (already twice in two days) you have lost your "security"

Looking for a better solution.
