Title: Help setting up the router
Post by: Humbug_Total on April 25, 2019, 04:09:22 AM
Hello,

I´m trying to set my my D-Link 605L in my students dormatory. The set-up is:

The D-Link is directly plugged in the wall via an ethernet cable. To access the internet you have to log-in via a client provided by the university, this is done on one of your devices. While setting it up I configurated the IP and DNSfor the router as it mandatory to access the internet, the devices are set to automatically.

In the beginning it worked fine, but after some days it stopped working. While trying to log in via the client I get the message that a connection cannot be established, why I try to access configuration for the router via the browser I get a connection timeout. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into my device it works fine and while the router is unplugged from the cable I can access the configuration, too. As soon as I replug the cable the connection is lost. All the setting in the router stayed the same.

Any additional information needed?

Thank you for your help.

I would contact your campus IT group and ensure the router is connected to there system correctly and not being blocked and the router is configured correctly on there system.

Try a factory reset and setup from scratch as well.
