Title: BSOD when downloading
Post by: mickeymouse on August 22, 2009, 02:34:58 PM
Howdy Everybody !

Greetings !

I bought a DWA-552 and DIR-655 router as I moved into a new house.  My desktop is downstairs and the only connection to cable modem is upstairs; hence had to use wireless access.

Many times I get a BSOD when downloading large files.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000008, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xB9C57C00)
NDIS.SYS - B9C57C000 base at B9C41000
Datestamp 48025d03

All googling about this points to NIC.

Is there a driver update or something I can do so I can download large files?

Thanks
MickeyMouse

Hi Mickey,

Unpack the latest D-Link Drivers for the Card.

Uninstall all D-Link Software. Reboot.

Use Device Manager and reinstall only the drivers for the D-Link Card. Use Windows to control the Adapter and find your Network.

Reboot to test connecting.

Thank you, TheCreator.

I uninstalled DLink software using Revo's Uninstaller including left over registry items.

Device Manager -> Updated drive from the extracted 1.5 zip file.  There were 2 device driver files.  The one that ends with x did not work (even though I have XP !).  I retried the driver upgrade using the other one and it worked.

Rebooted. Used Windows to manage the wireless.

Downloaded a large file and did not have BSOD.  I will try one more file tonight using my office VPN and see if that works.

Thank you, I think and hope it is fixed.

I downloaded large files repeatedly just to test this.  No BSOD any more   :)

Thank You !!
