Title: OpenWRT or DD-WRT for B1?
Post by: SBMongoos on January 03, 2011, 11:46:20 AM
I'm seeing more message about people wondering if this forum is still active.  Maybe it's just the holidays?

Anyone have any feedback of which is a better route to go between OpenWRT and DD-WRT? I'm getting the impression, however, that if the DLink f/w is working okay it's best not to move to a 3rd party f/w. I'm not seeing any clear/good reasons.  Thoughts?

I installed DD-WRT and haven't looked back... It's been running very well. It does have it's own little quirks, but no show-stoppers for me (Running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std (SVN revision 14896)).

I was looking at a commercial router, and well, still am, but I managed to put off the urgent need so I've got more time to research, and device makers have more time to drop new and impressive products into the marketplace.

Hope this helps,
Hank

I gave DD-WRT & OpenWRT a go over the holidays. I certainly had a lot more luck with DD-WRT so would recommend that for now. It was a lot of rafting around just to share a USB drive attached to the router though.
