Once we load this firmware will it then allow us to downgrade back to 1.02?

No, it will not be able to downgrade back to firmware 1.02

Yeah, I found that kind of disappointing.  But, so far so good.  The wireless portion is okay, and doesn't drop being 7 feet away.

Another thing I found was that the Menu bar at the top for each section is slightly off.  The "Help" kind of goes off to the side past the right side border.  Not a major thing, but I noticed it earlier.  I'm not sure if it's like that on lower resolutions, but i'm @ 1920x1200.

Less errors on wireless would be good.  Meaning more compatibility with older hardware if possible.  Still 3945ABG to be more precise.  This could prevent less retransmits of packets over LAN and over Wireless..Still sometimes causes deauthentication of wireless clients with static IP's.

I'd also like to see better detection of connection type and Detected xDSL or Other Frame Relay Network.  Selecting Auto detect and using a Cable service caused this value to change to "yes".

Since it uses Java, sometimes while in a main section, and clicking through to the sub section, it will not go until you refresh that main section.  Not sure if it's a java problem, or browser problem, or GUI of router.

I really would like to just go back to 1.02.  Without a "recovery" mode built in to this router that seems to be impossible.  My remote play for PS3 worked just fine with 1.02.

I RMA'd mine.  Got a refurb with 1.10 on it today.    >:(  Unreal.

Trying to call now.  They can send me a call ticket to come pick this one up. The beta does nothing for the PS3 problem that started with 1.10.  I guess it's going to be almost impossible to get a 4500 with 1.02 on it now.

I wonder if maybe the inability to go back to previous Firmware versions was deliberate?

For the past two months, many Hardware and Software companies have been working to try to patch multiple DNS spoofing vulnerabilities, to close the holes so to speak.

LinkSys, Cisco and other major Router manufacturers have had to issue firmware patches too.

So I'm wondering if maybe the 1.1x firmware series has this sort of fix included in it?

If so, then that would explain why we can't flash older firmware to the DGL-4500

Just got my replacement today. I hooked it up and surprise... surprise :o it has the same firmware revision as my original router (which I shipped back 3 days ago). I figured something must be different. Maybe, just maybe, MAC address filtering works. NOT!!!

I sent a defective product and I received another defective product. GREAT JOB dlink!!! I work in tech support too and I'll give you a word of advice: TEST the product before shipping it to customers!
When you know firmware rev 1.10 is no good how can you replace a 1.10 with a 1.10?  ???

I need to know when to expect a firmware revision that will fix this problem! MAC filtering doesn't work. I can't add a MAC address without locking the router.

Thanks to anyone who has a qualified answer. ;)

You should upload Firmware 1.11 b02 and give it try. It should give you no problems with MAC filtering. It worked on our Lab test.

Alright! DONE! Installed Firmware 1.11 b02 without any problems. MAC filtering is working again. NO need to go back to 1.02.

Good job dlink!

OK...

Since 1.10 I have been having the issue with the following;

Mac Address Filtering (fixed in 1.11)
Router Mac Address was changed to an obscure Address (fixed in 1.11)
VoIP Adapter not connecting to server(fixed in 1.11)

So far so good D-Link....

The one thing I really liked about this firmware was that it did not reset to factory setting and force me to re-enter all the config. I have never been able to get the restore config from file to work correctly...

I think that was pretty much the ONLY way to remedy that due to the physical MAC changing..

It works okay, but I'm still irked by small minor things.  Hoping for increased stability and stuff too.

I've posted this on another forum, but haven't heard anything.

1.11 Beta - "Latest firmware version 160.04 is available" in log

This isn't a huge issue, but the logs on my DGL-4500 (running the 1.11 beta firmware) still tell me there is a newer firmware available:

[INFO] Sat Aug 02 05:08:10 2008 Latest firmware version 160.04 is available
[INFO] Sat Aug 02 05:08:10 2008 Firmware upgrade server wrpd.dlink.com.tw is at IP address 210.242.32.129
[INFO] Sat Aug 02 05:08:09 2008 Time synchronized
[INFO] Fri Aug 01 21:03:39 2008 Requesting time from 69.31.13.210
[INFO] Fri Aug 01 21:03:39 2008 Time server us.pool.ntp.org is at IP address 69.31.13.210

This message is approximately 20 lines from the beginning of the log.

Previously it said, "[INFO] Fri Aug 01 20:51:23 2008 Latest firmware version 10.20 is available", so it is definitely getting this information from somewhere (wrpd.dlink.com.tw).

Has anyone else seen this?

I haven't tried downloading it because of the issues I had with 1.10 and because it doesn't seem right that it should jump from 1.11 to 160.04.

Other than this, I'm not having any noticeable issues with 1.11 Beta.

You're not able to roll back the firmware because this latest release was actually a SDK update. That means the "core" OS of the router was updated, as apposed to "patching" that we're all normally used to.
I've inquired with Ubicom to determine the nature of the "core" update and to see if it includes the DNS Cache Poisoning fix. I've yet to hear back but I'm guessing it does.

The routers that were included in the SDK update are as follows;
DGL-4500
DIR-655_all Revs.
DIR-628
DIR-855

If you guys have any further issues let me know.

will any of these updates be ported over to the 4300? many users have been waiting on fixes for that as well.

Lycan,

Would this core update effect VoIP? I am using a PAP2T adapter and since I upgraded to 1.10 and then 1.11 it has not been able to connect to it's server. This is a problem since I can not use my phone.

Also, when I upgraded to 1.11 My router did not reboot. Is this normal? Did the lack of a reboot and factory default cause my VoIP issues?

Other than my VoIP issue I have been pelased with the 1.11 Beta..

Mine said it was rebooting and froze...had to reset the unit and unfortunately every setting had to be manually input yet again like every firmware update to date.  Didn't try importing an exported configuration because it has never worked for me from one version to the next.

There is a DGL-4500 1.12 that is our offical release.
Give that a try guys. I've been using it for two days, so far so good.
I'm runing a full diagnostic on SIP traffic, but other then that I see no problems.

Will we have to reconfigure the entire router again?  Will uploading a previous saved configuration work this time?

Sorry, but my experience has been that I haven't been able to load a config from 1.11 Beta (or previous versions) after upgrading to 1.12.

I'm running 1.12 and I'd like to say that I have not had any problems loading a Config File to restore a previous configuration.

Matter of fact, with each of the previous versions, I've not had any problems.

 -

Then again, for those having problems, Before updating the Firmware, have you tried

 1st - Disable the Wireless
2nd - Disconnect everything from the router (except your main system)

Then after you successfully flash your Router, Login and try to Load and restore the Config file.

 -

This is the proceedure I follow each time.

I have upgraded to FW 1.12 and my SIP is working after I set Stun options on the phone adapter. I did not need to do this before. Ohh well maybe it's for the better...
My biggest issue is that I have to constantly re-configure my system after upgrading. It always tells me that it is either not the proper config or it is corupted.. I am running Windows vista.

Please Lycan have them work on this to correct..  This is such a pain in the a$$ .......

Thanks,

With 1.12, a big problem has surfaced.  No longer able to connect wirelessly using an Intel 2200BG mini-pci card.

My router is configured with both WPA/WPA2, and had zero problems with the latest drivers from Intel using 1.11 firmware.
Any chance you can find a fix? Tried switching modes, and the cipher to connect with, but nothing seemed to work.

Thanks!

If the CFG files that you are using do not load, try clicking the restore to factory button first.

Lycan,

I guess I need to ask this question, would this not have already been done by the FW upgrade? Since all my settings were set back to factory.

I am just trying to find clarity...

Thank you,

Wow, missed this thread.
Sometimes flashing the firmware leaves reminante code in the system memory.

Lycan,

I have tried this and it still does not work. I tried again going to 1.13 and still no joy..
1.13 has solved some issues i have been having with WISH. It now works again. The way it should..

Keep going with the fixes you'll get there some day =)

Please try to fix the config file issue. It is getting old to have to keep re-typing the whole config every flash.

Tired of messing around with D-Link and all the broken promises?  Want to roll your
dgl-4500 firmware back to 1.15 right now?  The two links below have the fix. This
is not a joke.  It works.  Both sites are very reputable and people have tested it.

http://www.ispgeeks.com/wild/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4224#15926

and

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23720820-downgrade-possible-DGL4500-12xNA115

Follow the simple instructions and tell d-link where to stuff it.

Christmas was a little late this year but better late than never!
