Port, protocol and log format used for Syslog
« on: January 23, 2017, 10:52:18 AM »

Hi everybody,

Anyone can said to me, what is the protocol used (UDP or TCP) and the port used for the syslog option ?

I've activated my syslog server on my Synology DSM 6.0, but not log is received.

At the same time what is the log format used ? BSD or IETF ?

No explanation into the manual about this technicals informations.

Thanks by advance for your answer.

Regards,

Pyroa.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Not sure about port usage, rather if you have syslog server enabled on the DIR router and input the IP address of your syslog server, i.e. your DSM device, it should capture the data using the IP address of the DSM. Not sure about format either.

Sorry about my time of answer ...

I've tried all the configuration to found the good one.

That is :

IETF
Port UDP 514 like said up

I've really disappointed about the information gathered by the log server ...
No trace of connected user, of c onnected client on the WIFI, bandwith used etc ...

Maybe something to ask D-link support to see if they can include that in the syslog capture.
