« on: May 27, 2013, 11:54:03 PM »

How can I change resolution for the DCS-5222L when using mydlink Lite?
The current resolution is at 320x176.

don't hold your breathe.  You can't.

Seems even the moderators here can't think his way out of a paper bag.  I asked this question yesterday and not even a single response.

I bought this camera yesterday, it's an HD cam and the quality is just terrible.  My iPod Touch shoots clearer video.  I tested an iPod Touch and iPhone yesterday doing Facetime, and it was as good as this camera.  I did side by side comparisons.

The free app doesn't seem to support anything more than 240p.

You may see my frustration.  You come to an OFFICIAL forum, and try to get help, I have tons of views on my question but not a single response.  You gotta wonder if anyone even knows how to answer a question here.

Moderators should be answering a question like yours hours after it being asked.  It's shameful that they haven't.  D-Link also has terrible customer service, I guess you've realized that now.

Why so frustrating ? because when you pay out $250 for a camera, you expect some sort of help.  These cameras cost them what ? $20 to produce ? you would figure with the profit margin they would hire somebody to actually monitor these forums and give people answers.

Here I have an iPad and an iPod Touch, and an iPhone, and I can only watch at 240p ? crazy.

Even their Dlink + does NOT even indicate a thing about it being able to watch at higher than 240p, - VERY bad.  When buying software, people should know this.

The lite app doesn't even tell you if it is crippled at 240p.  ( it would be nice if they said, if you wish to watch higher than 240p, you must buy the PLUS version )

People in charge here are really disappointing.

I am curious why they would add the resolution button anyways.
Using dlinkLite:
DCS-930L shows 640x480 or 480p
DCS-5222L shows 320x176 or 240p
DCS-932L shows 640x480 or 480p

Using mydlink+:
No buttons to indicate resolution change.

I'm guessing they ran into some technical glitch and can't figure out how to fix the problem?

I am hoping they "fix" this problem, clearly, there is no reason to why my DCS-5222L should have a lower resolution than my DCS-930L.

Hi guys, let me explain to you how to enable the resolution in 5222L.

You have to change the resolution setting in the device's web-page.
For example, if your camera's ip in your local Lan is 192.168.0.2.
Use your browser and enter the IP address "192.168.0.2"
And input user name: "admin" . Password: "the password you set with the wizard".

If everything works fine, you will see you camera's video stream in the web-page.
Click on the setup tab on top, and click at "Audio and Video" .
Here you can manage your video profile.

Change the setting of profile 3's resolution to 640x352, and change the FPS and Quality matching
your internet bandwidth.

Apply save and log-in the app again, you should be able to view 480p now.

**If you change the resolution to 1280x720, you will be able to view HD in app.
But i would not recommend  it as higher resolution need more bandwidth to transfer the video.

**Remember to update the camera's FW to the latest fiirst, newer FW means less bug.

**Just change the setting of profile 3, don't mess with other setting if you don't understand it.

Hi folks,
I have the same issue even with mydlink+. I cannot change the resolution on the way from the application. As far as I remember with my previews camera and my mydlink for ipad even mydlink lite i was able to switch resolution from the application (TAB different video profiles). Maybe i am going crazy, but i remember that I was able. AS described in this topic we can change the resolution for PROFILE 4 (used for mobile devices), but is not possible to select the profile we want to use from the App ?
Best Regards.

I have this same issue. I think I am going to return this camera as I cannot find a solution to this. I have updated profile 4 on the web but still can't get anything other than 240p on the mydlink lite and mydlink+.

Did you log into the firmware and adjust the settings?

On local lan I've been playing around with rtsp, still trying to tweak the settings for lan wifi.
Incase anyone needs path it's rtsp://ip:544/play2.sdp.

<ip><port><profile#number>

Idea is to have HD video on lan and then use d link lite on 3G etc.

If anyone finds a good Android rtsp player can you post back, ideally need one with can pass username and password.

@sim just use the url in a web browser it will ask to see it with default video player, if default video player doesn't work MX player does

Thanks al404, hit and miss on some apps also saw somewhere rtsp for audio also?
Anyways profile 3 is what I'm using at the moment, think that's more user friendly with mydlink lite.

Has anyone been able to get 640x352 working for two camera broadcasting at the same time?. So both camera are playing back in real time.

One camera on 640x352 is no problem  but load up two and it disconnects, and I know it's not bandwidth issues.

Thanks Aadan.
I logged onto one of my DCS-932L cameras using the IP address I obtained by logging onto my wireless router and interrogating it for current devices.
Username:admin
Password: the one I set
Changed resolution to 640x480 and kept jpeg quality at medium.
Much better image but only at 1f/s on the Internet but higher when connecting to it locally.
Although not as good for video, the static / captured images are much better.
I'm using mydlink+ (69p from the App Store).
I can still see it at 480p when using the 2x2 grid.
