To reproduce
1. W215 is switched on
2. Remove power for like 1 minute (simulate power failure)
3. Plug back W215
4. Setting is now OFF. waited few mins and is OFF
Suggestion:
It might be a safety feature not to have it default ON after plugging in.
But I hope, it should check in the Scheduled Task history that it there is no scheduled OFF setting.
Another limitation is the Mydlink Home App.
There is no option to set "ON at 4:30PM only", then ON again in another xx:xx time. It needs a tandem ON and OFF in when creating schedule
-
I'll ask what the default behavior is for this. Please be patient.
-
Default is OFF after a power failure.

Default is OFF after a power failure.
yes.. default is OFF, I was hoping to put this W215 + Router is plug to it. :)
default off is maybe fine to prevent surge to appliance.
-
You mean your power for the router is plugged in to the DSP?

no it is not plugged to DSP :)
-
I would not plug the router into the DSP.

after some months, here's what I learn from DSP-W215
a. No scheduled time set, you manually press turn-ON the physical button via W215 itself, power-failure simulation and then re-applied back power, it will NOT remember last state, it remains OFF throughout till the next schedule.
b. E.g. A scheduled time was set that it is ON between 2PM to 5PM. Power failure happens between 2pm-5pm and power restored before 5pm. The w215 will set it to ON after few minutes. So I am happy on this
Summary: Power Failure scenario will work if there is a Scheduled Set on that time frame (firmware 2.2 and mydlink home v3.07 (ios)

Thanks for the info. Hope this helps others.

on more thing I noticed on W215, if the internet is down for say half day, the W215 will also switch OFF!! after some hour!!!
The W215 seems NOT keeping scheduled on/off task within the device, dunno if it is safety feature that if unable to contact dlink server, it will do an OFF mode.
I hope someone release a Smart Plug that is ON when there is power failure (e.g. relay is reversed (NC - normally closed)
-
Oh wow I did not know this was the case. I'm using the smart plug with a D-Link IP cam, if the power goes off and the cam won't auto come back on this is a problem.
Its a shame D-Link doesnt make this a configurable option. :(

I have found a way around it by setting a schedule in advanced and set it to be always on
-
Setting a schedule that is always ON does not work.
There has to be a transition in the schedule, ie something needs to happen.
Anybody have another trick?
