I have already reported it to a so-caled "Dlink TAC Engineer", but haven't heard anything from the guy for almost 2 weeks now...

Keep try to make contact with that engineer if you can. I have forwarded this on to my contact for review. I can't promise anything but we'll never know if we don't try.

Keep us posted.

So far, no update from Dlink. Asked a few days ago, and I was told, that they were still working on it.

So far, it seems to include XP + Vista + 7 + 8 PCs, iPhone 4, 4s and 5, Android 3+4 and 3 different MAC computers (at different clients). A strong feeling, from "the force", is telling me that it follows the general rule of IT trouble-shooting - the common denominator is usually the culprit. Also, a DAP 2553 power cycle fixes it for all clients...for a while.

Thanks for the update. I presume they are working on it and it will take some time to get resolved at the FW level.

Keep in touch with them as needed.

Good Luck.

Yup. And I still haven't gotten any solution from D-link.

I have already instructed our sellers and buyers not to buy/sell any more D-link until this case has been solved.

I guess having to switch D-link off/on all of the time is needed - the D-link DIR-655 we have at the repairshop has also been taken out. Internet is either non-existing or slow. Replacing it with a Zyxel USG-20W fixed everything.

D-link...what is happening? Ever since the AP-2000 and up...freezing is the general experience.

My DIR-655 has been working fine for me as others. There are other factors about that can contribute to Wifi routers not working well.

Let us know if your DIR-655 comes back online. Can post in the DIR-655 forum if you need further help.

What is the AP-2000?

Have you been in contact with D-Link about your 2553?

Yes, I have been in contact with D-link support about all the DAP-2553 we have sold. Not ONE of them runs OK - they all have reason 8 problems, no matter the client or location.

The AP-2000 is now an obsolete product but it had the same problem.

We were so tired with the DIR-655 that we have replaced it - and my collegues would be very mad if I set it back.

Ok, I have asked D-Link for review on this again. Can't promise anything. I hope something will come about and soon.

As for the DIR-655, what Rev is it.
What region are you located?
I'd be interested in checking on your 655 with you at some point...not in a customer environment.
Was the 655 in a home or business?

The DIR-655 used to run at our repair work shop - placed outside the city. There's only one neighbor WLAN, so it's not like it's the neighbor WLANs hammering it down...

I can't remember the revision, will check it tomorrow.

It seems Dlink has given up on us - they can't seem to reproduce the problem.

In ALL places, where we have sold a DAP-2553, they all loose all WiFi connectivity ability after a few days, some times less than a day. As stated above, it seems to go fastest in the places where a lot of other WiFi stations are placed.

I have also noticed this with smaller consumer models but would have expected a business model to be able to withstand roque stations - I was wrong.

Alternative?
We have, because of all this, been looking for other brands and one really seems to stand out from the crowd - Ruckus. We have set up a unified system (array of APs with central management) in the worst and busiest sites of all places, and we're able to walk several hundred feet, from one end of the campus to the other, without a single download ever stopping or stalling. It's been almost a month since we set it up and we haven't had a single comlaint since. THAT's the way it should work :-)

Can someone review this and see if it works for you?

Tried that too, both a local NTP server at one site and a national NTP server at a second site - didn't do any difference.

I think he refers to the "Group Key Update Interval" setting, not the NTP topic.
