Need Some Advice
« on: March 02, 2008, 02:35:04 AM »

Hello Whomever can help me.

I'm thinking of upgrading my G network as I will need to connect more devices wirelessly through a bridge & right now all I have is the DWL-G810 hooked up to my 360.  I have the DI-624 as my current router. So...

My question is, should I get a DGL-4500 with the DAP-1555 (to connect my 360 & my TVIX HD M-6500A)

Or

Get a DIR-855 with the DAP-1555 (again to connect the 360 & my TVIX HD M-6500A)

My Computer would be hardwired so no worries there.  I'm just curious as to what would give me the best throughput as the TVIX HD M-6500A will also be used as network storage. (If you don't know what a TVIX HD M-6500A is, just go here, http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/products/HDM6500A.aspx)

I want to thank anyone & everyone that helps out with this.  Any reasons you can give for your suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks for helping out!

Instead of the 1555, look at the 1522. Gig ports.

Also the 4500 should do the trick, unless you want concurrent 5/2.4ghz radios, then you want the 855.

First off, thanks for the reply.

Now, the 1522, when is this due out?  I can't seem to find much info on it at all.  I'm guessing it's similar to the 1555, but with Gig ports?

& then what is the benefit of having concurrent 5/2.4 ghz radios?  I'm guessing that the router would then be backward compatible with older wireless networking without having to go into the router's settings & switch the frequency.

Thanks again,

Nope, we offered as a compliment to the XboX A/G gaming adapter. If the 2.4ghz range is crowded then you can switch.

Lycan, I appreciate all your help but...

I can find zero info on the 1522.  Is it "N" because that is the main point of upgrading the network.  So if you have a link to any info on the 1522 it would be greatly appreciated.

& with the DGL-4500, I'd have to go in to the router manually to switch between 2.4 & 5 where the DIR-855 runs both at the same time.

Thanks again!

It's N and gigabit ports. No External antennas to fuss with either.

Lycan,

When will the DAP-1522 go on sale in the US of A?  I even did a google search & was only able to find it on the Wi-Fi Alliance certifications page.  It seems like the best bet would be to go with the DIR-855 combined with the DAP-1522.

So the question remains, when does the DAP-1522 hit the streets & have the issues with the DIR-855 been sorted out?

Thanks Again!

I don't have release dates for hardware. As for the 855, I'm not sure whats going on there.
