Need a bit more info before confirming a bug.

    • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
    >FW Update Process
    Was Smart Connect enabled?
Do the devices connect correctly if SC is disabled?
With SC enabled, temporarily disable WPA security and test those two devices. Do they connect with out issue then? Re-enable after testing.

What security modes are you using?

    Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Confirmed a bug with 1.03 firmware. Some 2.4GHz clients are not seeing the 2.4GHz network even though it is broadcasting with client supported protocols. The work-a-round is to manually enter SSID and password, the client will connect fine. Another work-a-round is to reboot the clients that are not seeing the network.

This bug does not actually effect connectivity of 2.4GHz clients once they are connected. Sample devices that do not see the 2.4GHz SSID at times: D-Link DCS-2330L IP cameras, LG G3 Android phone.

Yes factory reset was performed. In all other regards the router is great.

The problem occurs with Smart Connect enabled or disabled. It's not a problem connecting, rather a some 2.4GHz clients don't see the SSID broadcast until the client is rebooted. Or you can manually enter the SSID to connect.

No other interference. The router sits alone on top of a bookshelf. The same place my routers have been sitting for years without issue.

One more issue I have been able to reproduce. My router is in AP Mode. Login to router, go to SharePort settings. Enable or disable DLNA server. Click Save and you are prompted to wait for 25 second countdown. However at the end of 25 seconds the connection is rejected. And you are locked out from connecting to the router admin console. Browser shows error server rejected connection. Tried for 10 minutes. Only fix is to power down and restart router.

Does this happen in Router mode as well?
What is the Mfr is model if your main host router/NAT? I presume the 890L is connected to another router or DHCP server?
What IP address so you use to access the 890L in AP mode?

I notice the GUI times out while I am in it. It does this after just a few minutes. Not sure if this is a security feature or a bug, but it seems it should not time out that quick or while I am working in it.

Usually there is a 3 minute time out for security reasons. I presume that if you keep clicking the menus and keep the UI going, it should keep the timer from running out.

Ok, I set my DIR-868L up as primary router and had the 890L change over to LAN wired AP mode. I saw it got an IP address as it was listed on the 868L. I was able to access the 890Ls UI  in wired AP mode. I then disabled the SP features which had been enabled while in router mode. I saw the 25 second count down then the browser said it couldn't connect to the IP address I was using. I power cycled the 890L to see if the UI cold be accessed. Still could not be accessed using OSX 10.10.2 and Safari v8.0.3. Probably Safari's cache needed to be cleared. I checked with Opera and I could access the 890Ls UI in AP mode after the power cycle. I then used Opera to re-enable SP features and saved settings. After the count down, Opera could not access the 890Ls UI. I power cycled the 890L and then Opera was able to access the UI. Seem that users will need to power cycle the 890L to re-gain access to the UI until D-Link reviews this and fixes it.

    Feature Request

VLAN Support - Our ISP uses VLAN Tagging on fibre connections to determine which port is used for Internet, VOIP or IPTV.  I was selecting among 3 routers with the AC3200 compatibilities and chose this one, which, while I believe it to be the most powerful, unfortunately doesn't have support for VLAN tagging.
As of the moment, I'm using this as an AP and the main router is still the router that I was planning to replace and sell off.
Is it possible to put this feature in?
    Thanks!

    Link>Welcome!

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Thanks for the response. I did give them a call and they didn't know anything about it.
I also send them an email via the support website to have this feature added in but I did not receive a response.
It's either I have to wait for a dd-wrt firmware for this, or I might have to sell it off and get one of the other 2 AC3200 routers :(

I presume that this model router does not support nor will support any VLAN tagging. If the feature were to be added it would be sometime down the road.

I would ask D-Link which model router supports VLAN tagging for use with ISPs. There maybe not a lot of call for that kind of feature in some home class routers.

    Good Luck.

    New Features Added- v1.06 B04
*Adding of blank reservations is now available. Just select the button with the (+) symbol to open a blank reservation window under the Clients section.

*For devices with reserved IP addresses that are not actually connected, They will show up as grayed out device icon instead of colored blue, under the clients section. Which can be edited and removed later on if the device is no longer attached, connected or available. Blue color text means the device is active and connected. Gray color text means the device is in-active and not connected to the router.

*Customizable QoS ISP Link speeds now available.

    Thank you D-Link.  ;D

    Feature requests:
on web interface and app - add firmware version so we can see which version we are on.

are there plans to expand at least the web interface to allow true "manage from anywhere" ability?  Things like firmware updates, backup, reload config, manage QoS, manage dns, manage vpn, etc. As it stands right now, all either app does is give you a warm fuzzy that you can see if it working and reboot it if you want to. There is a whole lot more to management than that.

Fix the save file option to allow you to enter the file name OR add a dateblock to the file name.

Syslog - it would be nice to do three things: a)  modify filename; b) select target location AND directory; c) a test to verify that it can write and read from that location.

let's see - USA, firmware 1.06 something (can't see it from here), hardware A, comcast wireed provider.

    Feature Request:

Release notes: make them REAL release notes - what was fixed/touched in the release and what are known open issues. Doing that would help all of us a lot for two reasons: a) we know what to expect, and b) we know what is already a known issue and not only do we know you know about it, we can do our best to avoid that until it's addressed in a later release.

Release notes are to inform us what is different - not just "hey, we fixed a security issue".
