Title: How much data camera upload ?
Post by: imperator on February 16, 2020, 10:44:10 AM
DCS-936L every 5 minutes "127.0.0.1 is streaming video"

I think that DCS-8010LH streaming too but I can't check because that model doesn't have a web access..

I found this statement

"About your query Chad, the camera sends information to our servers every 5 minutes. It does so because it needs to re-establish the connection as our system is designed to refresh the connection. Furthermore, the 127.0.0.1 is your Internet IP address, which the camera is using to connect to the our servers. "

But how much information camera send - or what amount of data ? (1MB, 2MB, 3MB ?)

(It is quite interesting because every 5 minutes for 3 cameras means - 864 "requests" per day - so if it would be a 0,5MB per request = 430 MB per day)

Thanks

What FW version is currently loaded on the 936L?

Probably not much data. Less than 1Mb. Just probably sending a ping and the servers ACK the ping.
127.0.0.1 is not your internet address. Thats a loopback address.

How are you determining what the camera is doing? Using a network scanner?
Logs?

What is the mfr and model # of the ISP modem and main host router your using with the camera?

There is similar thread

I only check logs in web GUI of camera.

I just interest what size of data camera send. But maybe a few KB or bytes...
