User and password needed to upgrade firmware
« on: January 05, 2015, 02:53:46 AM »

Hi all, this might be a stupid question but I am trying to manually upgrade my firmware and when I type http://IP_Address/eng/admin/tools_firmware.cgi I get a message from the 825L with user and pass neeeded. Looking at the firmware upgrade guide you guys link (ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DCS-825L/REVA/DCS-825L_REVA_FIRMWARE_UPGRADE_GUIDE_1.00_EN.PDF) it does not sday anything about passwords so I'm a bit frustrated. I have tried the wifi network name and password that came printed on my DCS-825L user guide, all combinations with admin on the user and silly passwords (0000, 1234, etc), I also tried my D-Link account user and pass... notthing workls and I am unable to access the camera via http. Help, please!

This is what I always get: http://imgur.com/U7FrxTH When I try any combinaton of user and pass I get a Unauthorized error.

Are you logged into the Camera locally using the admin account on a wired PC?

u]PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations[/u]
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Hi! Thanks for your answer. I am trying to log into the camera from a PC; the communication with the camera is wireless. The PC is wired to the router and the cam is wirelessly connected to the wifi.
I have no firewall or antivirus when trying to update the firmware, I have tried firefox with no addons at all and chrome deactivating all extensions. My main problem is not the inability of updating the firmware (well, actually yes it is) *but* the appearance of a user/pass screen which is not documented anywhere I've looked in D-Link or D-link forums. So yes I have tried but there is an unexpected screen with user and password required which will not let me in...

is there a factory reset feature on this camera? If there is, you might try a factory reset, set up the camera minimally, then see if you can update the FW then with out getting a user pw pop up, if you do, try using Admin and a blank pw...Only think I can think of...

Thanks for the answer! The cam is out of the box, just bought it. So it already comes with factory presets, I presume, but I'll try. Admin/admin/ADMIN+blank does not work.
