I have been using the subject Wireless Router for more than 2 years.  Most of the time it worked OK but lately it has been giving issues.

SN - F35F492010006
MAC - 0024013F8567
ISP - Charter High Speed
Installed Firmware version 1.35NA
HW Version A4
Firmware Router came with 1.21

Due to a recent power outage, I had to reset the setting on the Dlink router.  One of the issue is after resetting the Internet options and rebooting the router when I go back to the system screen, both the Release and Renew buttons are greyed out.

I have tried to reboot the router as well as cable modem without any success.  Any suggestions?

The Cable Modem is Motorola SB5120.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2 and Cipher type to AES only if your device support this.

Was having this same issue, albeit with a MOTOROLA SBG6580 supplied by Time Warner however it was resolved by changing my DIR-655's IP to 192.168.1.1

The Motorola admin panel IP is 192.168.0.1 which is the same as the default D-LINK IP, once the IP was changed, and both Modem & Router power-cycled, the DHCP connection established just fine.

Hope this helps for anyone else encountering this issue!

And you can release and renew the WAN ip address on the router as well.
