DCS-2630L Triggers Alarm When Switching From Night to Day Mode
« on: December 18, 2015, 12:09:00 PM »

Camera triggers an alarm when switching from night mode to day mode.  The camera will also does this several times during the day.  The camera is installed indoors and once the sun comes up, the room is well lit from natural sunlight all day until evening.  Shouldn't the camera remain in the day mode once the room is well lit?

Are there occasional clouds?

I haven't paid much attention, but there might be an option to set sensitivity in the f/w. I'll try to remember to check tonight.

There are probably occasional clouds but I would think that shouldn't be enough to trigger the camera to revert to night mode (B and W ).  At night, all that is turned on in the area is an end table light with a low wattage bulb and that is enough for the camera to remain in the daytime mode (color vs B and W).  It is very bright in the room all day as there are a lot of windows.  The transitioning betwen day mode and night mode and back to day mode happens many times throughout the day which is odd.  I also have the motion sensitivity turned down to 70.

Motion sensitivity has nothing to do with day/night mode.

Change this option here:

Yep, initially I had changed it from its default of Auto to Medium but didn't make much difference.  I had to set it to Low in order to stymie the false positives that would occur throughout the day.  The camera still sends a false positive when switching from night mode to day mode.

Some problem here. Also a DCS-2330L I own does the same. Switching Day/Night mode should not trigger an alarm.
(The user shouldn't have to care about this. The internal firmware of the camera is supposed to handle something like that. If it mutes the alarm for that second or whatever other internal solution.)

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Problem I have with phone calls is I'm in Hawaii and typically we are several hours behind the rest of the US and most places are closed by the time I am afforded the time to make a phone call   :(  It's good the motion issue has been taken care of and the night/day switch unfortunately is getting to be like the boy that cried wolf... am becoming complacent with the daily email about motion detected.

Try staring with email support and go from there. Maybe set up a time frame for them to call you about this if possible. Ask for level 2 or higher support.

I just installed two DCS-2630L cameras indoors at a remote location.  Both are generating both motion and sound burst alerts as the sun rises and sun sets in this area when switching between night and day mode.  This is something firmware should filter out.  I don't see any mention that there is a firmware fix in progress but I don't see any more entries since late January.  Am I missing something?

I haven't heard of any fixes nor information regarding this. You may want to phone contact D-Link support and ask about this.

This is still a problem.  Can't believe it hasn't been addressed in any FW updates?

It is very annoying and I just have to remember if I get an alert of motion / sound detection around sunrise, sunset or on a cloudy day I try to ignore it - unless there is a REAL trigger at that time!

I've never seen such a fix.

Anyways - if someone was to turn on my lights the camera would switch to daylight and not pick up the motion detection which is real!
Same with turning the lights off!

So your saying that after the switch from Night or Day mode, then someone walks in front of the camera, and if motion detect is enabled and configured, that the camera will not detect this motion?

This is still a problem.  Can't believe it hasn't been addressed in any FW updates?
