Hi there,
Does anyone have any news about a version of the shareport utility for Macs being made available in Europe, for use in combination with the 655?
I am interested in using the USB port for a single Hard drive for wireless backup (We have individual drives right now). At the moment, seems the only option is the Apple offerings, and I do so like my 655!
Thanks in advance for any replies.

The only option is to use the new version 1.10 utility (do not mistake with 1.14 which is not available for Mac). BUT: In order to use this Mac version you need to update your firmware to 1.30.
And the 1.30 is:
- still beta
- has no wireless B capability
- is NON DOWNGRADEABLE !
So stick around until there will be any news on the final version of the firmware.

hi EddieZ,
Ok, thanks - I will keep VERY clear of a non-reversible Beta, thats for sure!!
I will keep my fingers crossed they get 1.30 to full release quickly and then give us poor Europeans our version soon after! ;D
Thanks again for the fast reply!
Cheers,
sandman

There's no real difference between US version and EU version besides the addition of extra languages. Nor is there any difference in hardware. Just to let know you can safely use the US firmware. ;)

Ah, that is good to know I live in Germany now, and am always concerned in general about compatibility between US & European software - but if they keep the final release Non Downgradeable, that is a real worry if there is any conflict! I have the 1.21EU Firmware right now, and am really happy with its stability dealing with Macs, an XP PC, wireless Canon MP600R and windows mobile phones all connected at once, and would hate to lose that and not be able to Flash back to 1.21 from 1.3 if there was a problem!

If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Absolutely! Just would love the shareport utility!
Ah well, just a matter of waiting for the final version of 1.3 - if they make it downgradeable, then I'll try it - if not, I'll stick with 1.21

1.31 will be downgradable, to 1.30.

Ok thanks for this info Lycan - any news yet when the finished 1.3 will be released?

Any more new things addresses in 1.31? Or is it identical to 1.30 with the addition of 'b'.

You got it.

FYI
firmware 1.30 works fine on my european A2 revision.
You still have all 13 channels and all options you need in Germany.
But D-Link Germany will not support any issue with this firmware !!!
For me there is no need to downgrade again as I'm not using 11b anymore.
But I don't have a MAC, so can't tell you much of the shareport.
Hope this helps

Just get them remove the crypto module....this will work wonders for code locking. ;)

Thanks for this - gives me hope that the final release will function OK - will definitely wait for that though as I haven't found any posts yet where the shareport for Mac worked for sure. ;)
Cheers,

You can much better assistance on this forum than from Dlink. You should not have high service expectations for a €100 product unless it's really 'kaputt'. Just the way things work, not only at Dlink.
