Title: Unable to add cdevice - 30+ tries
Post by: slim6y on December 02, 2017, 10:47:27 AM
Hello Forum,

I have just purchased this camera. I had it working before installing. I had to switch it off to install (ie unplug). Of course for some strange reason the device doesn't just reconnect. Is this the first fault? Or is this just how horrifyingly useless this camera is? What if there was a powercut? Would I have to return to the camera's location to add it back to the wifi? If so, this camera is going right back.

If you can't already tell, I am fuming. The camera wasn't cheap.

After I finally connected it (and I mean, it took a long long long long time) and then had to try again to get it on. Eventually it worked.

Then my wife decided she wanted to be in on the action (I mean, that is the point of the whole thing, we want to see what is going on together even if we're in different places). But we could find no where to add her to the list. I logged in to the admin side of things. Nothing. I followed online instructions, I added a user on the admin password. Still nothing. In the end we started her a Dlink account and put the same camera on. Of course, that took the camera off my account. So I tried to reload the camera to my account again. Nope. No, it just won't do it. I can not get the camera back. It is gone from my wife's account, gone from mine. And I can not get it back.

I did a hard reset and tried again.

Still nothing.

Is this camera really this useless? Or - lay it on me, what is it I am doing wrong?

Just to update:

I did a further hard reset, re-added to the WiFi via WPS and was able to install the camera and add it as a device.

From here I am going to email D-Link and see what sort of response I get.

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

What mobile platform are you using to install the camera?

The Firmware is the same as the latest update available for download.

The DCS number ( DCS-936L) hardware version A. Located in Sweden.

Also to confirm, I have the camera now installed and operational. It is slow. So I am still left with two major questions:

1) If the camera is unplugged, loses power temporarily or for some reason a power outage occurs, when the power is returned, will the camera re-sign itself back into the WiFi or will it need to be reactivated via WPS again?

2) Can my wife access the pictures, live, on her phone as well as on mine? If so, how so?

Yes the camera will and should reconnect to the Wifi signal you connected it too after a power loss or if the main host signal is rebooted.

Use MyDlink Light app to access live video from the camera either locally or from a remote location. Use the mydlink.com account user name that you used to set that account up and associated the camera too with the mydlink.com service. You can access this on many devices using the one user account information on each device.

Ok, so what about this, can anyone tell me what has gone wrong here?

From what I can see, this is correct.

Is the mail service address and port # correct?
