Title: DCS-2330L Firmware 1.10.07? (DO NOT USE!!!)
Post by: tcthan01 on July 17, 2015, 11:36:13 AM
Hi,

Using the MyDlink Home app, I tried to upgrade my DCS-2330L with what it deemed as the latest firmware for the camera. The firmware version is 1.10.07, but it is not listed on the camera's support page. The problem with the upgrade is that my camera no longer works using wireless mode, but only works when it is connected using an ethernet cable. Searching the web I cannot find any information on this firmware upgrade. Does anyone know what is the upgrade for? I'll be updating it with the older firmware. Thanks.

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?

Denver, CO metro area
Lynksys WRT 1900 AC
Just regular; Not 5GHz
It's laying right next to the router at this moment and still not working wirelessly.

My camera was outdoors so I brought it inside and connected the ethernet cable, and that worked. I then used the camera's direct URL (192.xxx.x.xxx) to upload the previous firmware 1.02.05 and again it worked wirelessly. After that I used the mydlink web portal (instead of app) to update firmware v1.10.07. It does not work wirelessly.

Can you provide a link to the page that contains this mysterious v.1.10.07? Thanks.

Has your routers FW been updated? there is new FW for it.

Just as a test, disable WPA security on the router, Does the camera connect then? Re-enable after testing.

After loading new firmware I also lost wireless.  Connected cable, reran setup, and exited after the network step.  Wireless returned after reboot.

I have the same problem. I have just updated my 3 cameras and now none of them can be connected wireless. But when I plug in the ethernet cable they work fine. How can I fix this problem. Do I have to find the old version of the FW and install that again?

I need your help here. Without the wireless connection to my cameras they have no value for me at all.

Kind regards,

Nick

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you usng in the main host router?

Had the same issue. Here are a few Fixes. First connect an Ethernet cable and go into advanced settings go to wireless setup check and un-check the use wireless button and press save. Disconnect the cable the camera will now connect wireless as it did before....However this is the least of the problems with this update.
1.10.07 will routinely disconnect from your wireless router then later reconnect
it will routinely shut off your events and you will have to manually turn them back on.
it will cause the camera to switch from daytime to night time and back causing false triggers and send you e-mail and or recording the the SD card for no reason.
it will disconnect you while viewing live stream.

For these reasons I have returned all my cameras back to 1.02.05.

My Lynksys router is up to date and I have tried using only WPA2 instead of WPA/WPA2 w/o any luck. As noted by others, this looks like a firmware issue, but I'm now wondering if the 1.02.05 version is also having issues after several days of usage. I'm not getting any video at all. Let's throw this is into the mess - I'm also using cammy app to capture snapshots onto the cloud for free (I think it's pretty good for being free). The camera was working for 1.5 days w/ the 1.02.05 firmware. Now no video via mydlink home and mydlink+ apps nor using the IP address for the DCS-2330L camera. My other cameras, two 935L and one 933L, are still working after firmware updates.

Here are links to the 1.10.07 version:

1.02.05:

I'm in the US, so perhaps I'm supposed to use the 1.02.03 firmware? I'll try not using the cammy app too, but the 933L has been working with cammy for several days now.

I've never been sure what governs which firmware gets released for which regions.  I've kept my 2330 on 1.02.03 because it's still the most current on the US D-Link support site.  I think I put 1.02.03 on initially when it was released in Canada and not the US, and had problems with it.  Once it was released in the US I installed it and it has been fine.

We recommend using FW thats specifcally located in your region...

That is fine unless you use mydlink app which informs you that there is a FW update and it looks like the app checks for the latest version world-wide and not specifically for your region. This is why I kept asking for information on this 1.10.07 FW. It's only listed in the mydlink.com, but not under us.dlink.com. What's worst is that when you select your camera, mydlink app will ask 'Update now" or "Later" and if you use iOS or Android, it may be "Cancel" or "Update". So on one device the Later/Cancel is on the left side while on the other it's the right side. My household has devices of both OS's and we may accidentally click on the unintended option.

I think my 2330L camera's factory FW is 1.02.05 instead of us.dlink.com's 1.02.03.  I'll just leave it at that then.

NOTE - Now I no longer see the update FW for 2330L on mydlink app. Was that removed due to this thread? :)

Possible that the update has been cancelled enough to stop the notice from appearing. I think if your in the NA or USA region, the updates only look in this specific region and not WW as other regions handle MyDlink differently.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

The wireless connection worked for me, but, the camera sensed several false detections a day due to camera aperture adjustment.  Overall, I liked 1.10.07 better because the recorded video does not have 2 second lag time after the triggered event.  Hopefully, DLINK can release a new fix for 1.10.*.
By the way, my wireless disconnection issue has not happened since I enabled to reboot (under system icon) daily.

I'm having the same problem with my DCS-2330L.  Shortly after the camera was upgraded to the latest firmware (1.10.07) via mydlink, it has been very unstable.  I've reset back to factory, but the same result.

How can I roll back to 1.02?  I tried reloading the .bin via the user interface.  It acts like it's loading, but after it reboots, it still shows as 1.10.07.

Dlink support was pretty useless.  They told me to download the wizard from mydlink.com and run it.  I've tried this with no luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You have to go back to 1.00B04, then you'll be able to go back to 1.02. The 1.02 file will stop at (I think) 83% every single time.

The 1.10 firmware almost bricked my cameras, so I wasn't too pleased with D-Link. The NVR app for Android has been broken for months now too. Their router software works well enough, but the quality of everything else varies greatly.

Can you provide a bit more information regarding what is "unstable" about the camera when this version of FW is loaded?
Also be sure to enabled both uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding on the camera.
There is a new plug-in that replaces the Java plug in.

I've asked D-Link to review this thread.

It's unstable as in:
1. I can sometimes log in to camera's user interface and it works fine: I can see live video, change configurations, etc.  Then 5 minutes later, everything is slow, there is no live video, and previous configurations are wiped and back to original settings.
2. DNR 202L can detect camera, but can't see live feed.  It eventually gives me an "X" and says camera is disconnected.
3. Mydlink app on iphone would sometimes says camera is online, sometimes offline.
4. When camera is working, it detects motion every minute or so even without any motions.

UPnP is enabled.  I will check UPnP port forwarding later tonight.

In addition to the DCS-2330L, I have a DIR-850L, DNR-202L, 1 DCS-932L, and 2 DCS-934L.  All are working fine except DCS-2330L.  I started experiencing problems soon after upgrading to 1.10.07.

Are you using Dynamic or Static IP addresses on the cameras and DNR?
If your still using the routers default DCHP IP address pool of 192.168.0.100 thru .199, I recommend doing the following for the Cameras and DNR:
Set a static IP address on each device: DNR to 192.168.0.20, 932L to 192.168.0.32, 934L to 192.168.0.34, 2330L to 192.168.0.23.

Ensure uPnP Port Forwarding is enabled on ALL cameras.

What browser are you using to connect to the web pages? I recommend IE or FF.

I had the exact same problems. Just downgrade to 1.00 and then upgrade back to 1.02. If this firmware wasn't  problematic D-Link wouldn't have pulled it. No sense wasting time messing with all your other cameras that are working properly.

Thanks, quixy!  Can you please provide instructions on how to downgrade to version 1.0?  Did you have the camera hard wired to router or can it be done wirelessly?  My camera is attached to the ceiling outside and power cord is glued on to stucco.  I really don't want to have to take it down.  Thanks again!

I didn't try to do it wirelessly, but my cameras had slowed to a crawl and it probably wouldn't have worked.  I bought 50 feet of cheap ethernet cord from Amazon for the same reason. Just go to the support website and download both firmware versions. Upload the 1.0 .bin file like you did the other time, then the camera should be responsive again and you can upload the 1.02 .bin.

Please be wired to the camera with a LAN cable. We found that doing a factory reset on the camera, then uploading FW, then factory reset again seem to ensure a good installation of FW.

FYI, I don't see v1.10.07 listed on the MDL or main D-Link web site so I presume D-Link may have pulled the file. So for now, everyone should be using v1.02 which is the most current on both sites.

Thank you.

I'll post on here my outcome.  I'm sure a lot of other people are having the same issue.

Finally got a chance to rollback to 1.00 then 1.02. It took about 20 minutes to go to 1.00 and I actually had to try a few times. I was afraid that it wasn't the firmware that was the problem. Once 1.00 went through, going to 1.02 took less than 5 minutes.

The camera is back up and running stable for a full day. The only problem I have is it's not sending email with motion detection.  I'll have to look into this further.  For now, I enabled email notification with my dnr-202L. With dnr, it only sends 1 pic with motion detection.

Glad you got it working and back on released FW.

Users may want to contact D-Link support directly on the phone and ask about some of the issues that are seen on v1.02.

Hi, anyone attempted to update via wireless, mine did not take the update even after several tries.  I know it says at the D-Link site to use wired connection, but I have quite a few of these mounted at different places (meaning at a height) and would take a while to remove each one to connect to router to update and then put them back up.  Any easy method?  Thanks.

If the Wireless is stable at each location, you can update via wireless. I have performed this from a wired PC using mydlink.com (http://mydlink.com) to do the update from a remote location.

Also , if the cameras are working, you can skip the FW update.
