The firmware should be able to distinguish between a gradual increase/decrease in ambient light which crosses the filter threshold versus an abrupt change in background lighting that would occur due to a light turning on or off. I agree that if it is an abrupt change with lights turning on/off you would want to know, not necessarily because it is an intruder but maybe due to energy conservation issues. When the filter threshold is very gradually crossed due to ambient lighting changes, the camera should disable the motion detection for about a half second, disable motion detection, switch the filter, then re-enable motion detection. Any real motion would still be detected before or after the filter switch based on the motion detection parameters that are in place.
