Unable to continue router DIR-600 setup
« on: January 26, 2012, 03:34:10 AM »

Using the quick set up of DIR-600 from the CD, I encounter this message:

"Your new router does not appear to be connected properly.
Follow these steps:
1)Make sure that your are connecting your new router...
2)Make sure the ethernet cable from your PC is securely...
3)Click Retry to try installing your router again."

I tried all several times and still I end up on that screen message. Can somebody be kind enough to help?  Thanks in advance.

Can you manually set up the router using the Setup menus?

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.

Thank you for your immediate reply. To my frustration, I reset the router and slept. This morning we repeated the process (from the CD) and to my surprise, the installation proceed without a hitch.

I will now try to set up the WIFI.

Thanks again and best regards.

Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
