Cannot Set Up Motion Detection via E-Mail
« on: May 31, 2012, 12:37:19 PM »

I've just successfully set up my network camera and as I was running through the advanced settings, I realized I have no clue what it wants from me when it comes to setting up images being sent to my e-mail. I've looked up some old threads to get a clue and thus far nothing works. Testing my entries results in "Invalid e-mail setting" 10 out of 10 times.

The setting format I'm trying to use is as follows:

-- smtp.gmail.com
-- 587
-- myemail@gmail.com
-- myemail@gmail.com
-- myemail
-- mypassword
-- STARTTLS

My GMail account is POP Enabled (whatever that is) and I used the username for that e-mail for bother the Sender and Receiver fields, as well as that e-mails username and password.

I'm lost. I bought the camera so I could document my landlord's maintenance people "touring" my apartment while I'm at work, but I wasn't aware having it save screenshots would be so complicated. Help!

I am a novice myself but have managed a few things so perhaps can help email being one of them. I cannot guarantee it will work but worth a try. The pop settings for gmail are:-

Gmail POP server address: pop.gmail.com
Gmail POP user name: Your full Gmail address (example@gmail.com, for example)
Gmail POP password: Your Gmail password
Gmail POP port: 995
Gmail POP TLS/SSL required: yes

What worked for me although I have gmail but not pop are:-
 SMTP Server Address:- smtp.gmail.com
 SMTP Server Port:-465
 Sender E-mail Address:-your gmail address
Receiver E-mail Address:- another email you want it sent to
User Name   :- this is your gmail email
 Password:-your gmail password
Use SSL-TLS/STARTTLS:- this I set to to   ssl-tls

I hope it works worth a try.
