DIR-510L Ethernet Port & 2.4GHz Radio
« on: December 11, 2015, 01:13:15 PM »

I'm using this router as a somewhat unique solution to an audio problem that's too long and complicated to get into here. Suffice it to say that I needed a small router that operated in the 5GHz range, used wireless AC, and has a battery system. This was the perfect match! Couple questions, though:

1) Is this router capable of assigning a standard DHCP IP address to the ethernet port? Basically, what I'm asking is whether or not the 510L's ethernet port is capable of operating as the type of port often labeled on routers as "LAN". For my purposes, I don't intend to use the 510L for internet, but rather for streaming data from a PC connected via ethernet to other PCs wirelessly. Problem is, when the PC is connected to the 510L via ethernet, the 510L attempts to assign the PC a PPPoE-style IP address, which doesn't work. Is this all the 510L supports?

2) For my purposes, I need to turn off the 2.4GHz radio on this router because it conflicts with my audio gear's wireless communication. Near as I can tell, there isn't a way to turn off only the 2.4GHz radio on the 510L. Is that correct? If so, what settings can I tweak to make that radio as close to "off" as possible?

Super Secret Bonus 3rd Question: I'm trying to power an Intel Compute Stick with the 510L's battery. I think I need about 1.5A of current. One of the 510L's USB ports provides 1A and the other provided .5A. If I wired a USB cable the right way, could I combine the power from both of the 510L's ports and power the Compute Stick or would that not work at all?

I don't have one of these so I don't know off hand if any of these questions you ask is support. I recommended reviewing the user manual to see what this router can do. You might contact support on the phone and ask as well.

Power specs:
Built-in 4000 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery
Input Power:
5V DC/1.8A maximum (with included adapter)
Output Power:
USB Type A port:  5V / 1A
