I was wondering if it is possible to turn off the LED's on this router. I have read the user manual, and that capability did not seem to be mentioned, unless I missed it.
-
No, that is not currently possible. The LEDs are quite discreet though, they don't light up the whole room like my DIR-655 did. :)
-
I like the blue lights on the DIR-655. LOL mades a nice night light, hehe. ::)

I just got DIR-880L yesterday, I noticed the LEDs were not blink on network activities.

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
What does the user manual say about LED and activity?
I believe the LED activity is more basic as they will be amber until the router achieves the desired connections then they will turn Blue. They don't blink for activity. Just stay on, Amber or Blue. Blue means ready and good to go.

NA region. Never read manual for this section, the LEDs are self explanatory. But manual said solid. :'(

D-Link as been moving away from blinking activity on LED in there latest routers. Not sure why. I think it's going along with the more simplistic approach on there FW as well. I would like to see some level of troubleshooting ability with blinking and connection rates which would help in some areas. Overall, if it's not working then we can figure it out I guess using other means.

Too bad. I like blink any LEDs in my room, otherwise they can stay at basement.

Yup, I just got my DIR-880L today and it is all set up now. The LED's are just right. Not too bright or dim. On an unrelated note, I noticed that my router has version 1.00 firmware, and I tried to update it to 1.10B09 using the web auto-update feature, but the message I got was that I already had the latest firmware. Maybe 1.01B09 is only available for manual download.

Your link advises first to save the router's configuration, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do that in the UI. Your link also refers to Tools/System, which is not in the UI. (Sorry for hijacking my own thread)
-
Ya I need to adjust that link since the UI changed on the 880L, there is a Maintenance section I believe were you can save the routers configuration to file. Look for this section. I can't remember off the top of my head at the moment. There is a configuration save feature there.
-
I don't see a maintenance section. There is a management section, but the only options in there are for upgrading the firmware. Can't find anything for saving a configuration. If you get some time, let me know exactly where the save configuration feature is. I'd like to put it to use.

Management -> System Admin -> System
Save Settings To Local Hard Drive

Thank you Fredde. ;)
-
Yes, thanks Fredde. I didn't see that last System tab until you pointed it out.
-
The new UI introduced tabs which we all missed. Being use DLink products for the past 15 years so, this router had too much setting related to reboot...
-
The new UI needs some time to get used to. ;)
