Title: New DCS-5222L - awesome camera for the money - but one complaint
Post by: scott12v on June 30, 2012, 05:02:09 PM
I have ~12 "medium quality" Megapixel+ IP Cameras running in my house from various vendors and consider the DCS-5222L to be one of the best in terms of quality and features.  It is by FAR the best value for the money (and works great with BlueIris for anybody using that).

However, I do have one pretty major complaint.  The "Auto" mode for switching between Day and Night modes switches to night mode WAY too soon.  It can be pretty bright inside, and it switches to night mode...far before any of my other cameras.  If I manually switch off night mode, the day picture is still great.

They need to either change this behavior or offer some user settings that allow you to set the threshold on when it switches from day to night.  At an absolute minimum, allowing us to switch based on a timer would be acceptable.

Hopefully a they can fix this in a firmware upgrade very soon.

Thanks,
Scott

This is issue is systemic to the DCS-9XXL cameras as well. I agree that it would be nice to have the ability to manually set the day/night transition threshold.
