Able to install 1.07 beta with my Asian unit and successfully upgraded my firmware.  QOS setting can now save the changes I made however at the connected client's DHCP reservation, I'm always getting an error "maximum number of DHCP reservation has exceeded".  I hope that it would indicate the maximum number or still accommodate as many as the other lower DIR units can register.  I'll continue its operation and report if there are other improvements or issues encountered.

How many reservations did you enable before the message appeared?

I was able to make 20 reservations in previous version (v1.04?).  The rest were shown as Unknown.  At present, there are 18 active connections but cannot register one of these "Unknown" devices which is an IP camera with fixed IP address.  Didn't "factory reset" it and my previous settings are retained.

There's no need to use reservations ON the router for devices that have static IP addresses On the devices. Just leave them be on the router. I do the same thing for my camera and thermostats and printers on my network. There all static on each one. They do show up on the routers connected list and when I had v1.06 loaded I could edit the name from unknown to what the device is and save the name change.

No problem on static IP address devices but its hostname indicates unknown.  Moreso on those devices with dynamically assigned IP, I would like to register its hostname-Mac address so that I could easily distinguish which devices are connected, specially those Android device with cryptic names.

So leaving the reservation disabled on the router, can you edit the name from unknown to something else then save the change?

Ok so I have mine up and running on v1.07. Looking good. I am able to configure QoS and after selecting Save, it's giving me the 80 sec reboot pop up and the settings are persistent after the reboot. Finally fixed it would appear.  ;D

Well I think all is ok accept for Smart Connect. I'm seeing different SSID names when it's enabled when I should see only 1 single SSID name. So leaving SC disabled for now.
QoS seems to be configurable now and settings persist.
I'm able to save about 16 reservations. I'll try and set more to see where the limit is.
I also see that a VLAN feature was added under internet.
Also there is a AutoReboot feature added too to reboot the router on a preset  schedule.
Wifi connection icons are now appearing on the connected devices icon box. However detection seems off as some of the mobile or wifi devices still reports a desktop PC instead of the wifi icon.

How do you totally disable the DHCP reservation? As in delete all the registered devices one by one. Already tried to delete 8 out of the connected/displayed 22 devices but still unable to reserve one.

Open the devices icon and slide the Enable Reservation slider button to the left to disable it.

I have only seen this happened if you have another device in AP mode... since the connection to the main router is arriving through the LAN connection to that device.  How exactly is your device showing the incorrect icon connecting to the network? Directly to the SSID of the DIR-880L or using another device in AP mode.

Ok, I'll check on where devices are connecting to. I'll turn off the 2ndary AP wifi. I did forget about that. Thank you.  ::)
SC seems to be not working though. I may factory reset and reload FW once more and try again.

What function of SC is NOT working for you? It is doing just fine with 1.07_Beta on my test lab for now.

I'm seeing two SSIDs instead of one. I have the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz being listed on my phone and Mac Book. This seems odd as initially i experienced bad connections in betting my iphone and macbook pro connected after I enabled SC after I first loaded v1.07. Each device would connect for a few seconds then kick out and switch to my other AP. I then factory reset and set up from scratch again thinking my initial config was bad. After setting up again and leaving SC disabled, wireless has been fine. I checked yesterday after getting home from work and SC was enabled and both iPhone and Mac showed two SSID names. I disabled SC last nite. I had been using v1.06 for the short time before v1.07 came out and SC was enabled on that version and only saw one SSID name in the available wifi lists.
When SC is enabled im seeing Airport Extreme and Airport Extreme 5Ghz in the list on v1.07. I presume I should only be seeing Airport Extreme.

Is there some reason 1.07 Beta and 1.06WW were not posted on the USA site http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-880L

Last USA version was 1.05B02.  Are these both US compatible?

Yes, all versions are compatible.

The QOS is finally fixed, I also was able to input and save download/upload values correctly.

However the DHCP reservations has regressed somewhere between 1.05B01 and 1.07 Beta.   I had only 4 reservations I made in 1.05B01.  I upgraded to 1.05B02 some time back.  And then to 1.06 and ran for about a week with no new issues recently.   An straight upgrade to 1.07 Beta (no regular user is going to factory reset every time) today and any attempt to add another reservation causes a popup "The maximum number of permitted DHCP reservations has been exceeded" error.

Also any attempt to change an "Unknown" hostname, such as on most IP cameras, results in the same exact error message popup.

Of the four that were reserved on 1.06, I can go and unreserve them and re-reserve them just fine.  But I cannot unreserve them and reserve a different device.  Some previous firmware bug has irrecoverably gotten the max count stuck at 4.   I am sure a factory reset would clear this and I will give that a go,  but since regular users are not going to do that reset this should be looked into to save a support call.

I can confirm a factory reset fixes the previous DHCP reservations upgrade bug.   Here are additional regressions/bugs though with 1.07 Beta that are not corrected by a reset.

- Click Home, Click the Internet Circle, Click IPv6.   All of the IPv6 information is missing (SLAAC/DHCPV6 configuration here).  But IPv6 is working fine.
- Click Home, Click Connected Clients.  Click the + tile.  It should say "Add Client" but it says "Add Rule"
- Same Connected Clients screen, intermittently, depending on the client count tile layout, there will be two + tiles shown.
- Hover Settings, Click Internet, Click IPv6, Click Advanced.  Now try and go anywhere else in the menu and you get an error popup "There is unsaved data on this page. Do you want to abandon it?" but you didn't edit anything.

Also, I noted a new undocumented feature under Management->System Admin->System to do an auto reboot of the router on a fixed schedule.

I did a reset, fw load, reset then set up from scratch.

I don't use IPv6 however mines says Auto Config, disconnected and Not Avail for all IP addresses on the right. I use Local Connection only.

Auto reboot was found in v1.06. We see VLAN on the Internet side now as well.

I factory reset the 880L, walked the set up wizard, changed only the wifi PWs for each radio, check SSIDs on a iPhone 6P and a Mac Book Pro and both SSIDs are listed. I then enabled Smart Connect and saved settings and rebooted the router fully. Check SSIDs names again and still see two SSID names instead of one. Anyone else confirm this when SC enabled?

I used Windows 7x64 and IE11.

a few other bugs after using 1.07B this week:

- I have 32 connected clients, but only 27 cards ever show up.   The clients have IPs and are working fine, the problem is the cards.
- When you are viewing the connected client cards, after the first refresh flicker the IPv6 addresses get cleared out.   The clients are working fine on IPv6 and when you initially load the view you see the IPv6 addresses on the cards.   Then it flickers away never to return.
- When you are working with connected client cards, perhaps reserving IPs or editing hostnames, the admin login timeout will kick in.   This should not happen.

Are you referring to the icons appearing on the Clients list? So far I see all of my connected client icons however some do appear grayed out if they are not connected.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sure to forward this on to D-Link.

How will you know at the client list which one is reserved without checking each device? Is there a bulk selection to disable these reserved IPs? Or I have to check them all, one by one?

Just checking all my DIR-880L setting recently and I noticed that the DDNS is in disconnected status.  I've checked the dlinkddns.com website and the date last modified is before I upgraded to 1.07 beta.  Did someone encounter this kind of problem?  Or is this just isolated problem of mine?  Tried rebooting the PPPOE connection DIR-880L many times but still can't connect to dlinkddns.com

You might do a manual reload of the FW then factory reset the router and set up the router and DDNS from scratch.

Sorry but I made a mistake in inputting the DDNS setting on its server selection.  It should be dyndns.org, instead of DLINKDDNS.  But input the host name  as xxxxxx.dlinkddns.com.  Now it works!!!

Would this become the official 1.07 release?  Or will there be beta 01 and so on first?  I hope that the reported bugs here would be resolved and official WWW release would be available.  But again, some items reported here in the wish list are still being expected in the future release.

Not sure if I should be posting this here or a separate thread, but there's a serious issue with this firmware.
I've got a Canadian unit which uses the same 1.07 (did a binary comparison of the US and Canadian firmware, identical) and when using this firmware, most of my devices have very high latency. Basically making using the devices over wifi unusable. I've tried it with multiple devices (Nexus 6p, HTC One M9, One A9, DAP-1650, etc) and running speed tests I see the ping time (30+ms) and even locating the nearest server takes a really long time. The only devices that operate ok are my iPhone 6s Plus, no idea why, but everything else lags to heck.  I know it's the router as I have two other AC routers (backup routers) that I tested with the same devices and they work flawlessly (sub 10ms pings and no latency whatsoever).

I was able to rectify this issue by flashing down to v1.06 for the DIR-880l and now all those afflicted devices run as normal, so I am using that version for now.  I have contacted D-link support and provided all this information, but wanted to post here as well just in case it can get to their Engineers more directly, there's obviously a bug that was introduced in 1.07 that is causing this high latency problem.

Was SmartConnect enabled when you were testing wireless?
Does wired connections experience the same thing?
Did you load the official release and not the beta?

Hi Furry,

No, SmartConnect was disabled.
No, wired connections don't exhibit this issue, only wireless clients.
Yes, I (re)loaded the official release, though there is no difference between B08 and the final (I did the binary comparison on those two bins).

Let me know if you need any other information.

Does the same thing happen if you have SC enabled?
What wireless modes, channels and security modes were you using with SC disabled?

I'm pretty sure it does do it with SC, not sure I want to flash to 1.07 just to test things out, but I'll see.

In terms of the modes, etc
I was using both 2.4 and 5GHz and tried multiple channels (used a tool to scan for open channels and put my networks on channels with NO other network in use), security was WPA2.

I'm sure D-Link will fix all of this. Just want to give them all info needed.

Thanks.

I appreciate you trying to help... I don't recall seeing two networks with SC enabled, but it's possible I wasn't using the current v1.07 that is out there. It may have been one of the earlier betas, or even 1.06.

Hello to everyone,

After installing it without factory resetting, the smart connect didn't correct single visible SSID but seen as 2 SSID I configured before.  Tried again from factory reset but resolved this problem.

But after fully checking its performance with pingtest of OOKLA, ping response time or latency is higher compared to previous version, more than 100ms, unlike with previous 10-20ms.  Had tried to test this again and again for how many days but still getting high latency problem.  I assume that my ISP didn't change any of their system setting because the IPs assigned to me are the same, likewise the gateway and DNS IPs.   Even non-peak periods show the above problem.  Another one is the WiFi/LAN card cannot be displayed correctly, regardless of 802.11b/g/n/ac or phone/notebook PC/tablet PC.

But these for me are all OK specially the QOS settings resovled.   Maybe expecting 1.08WW for these in the near future :)

Regarding 5Ghz Guest Zone enabled when SC is enabled?

And to confirm you are using FW version located here correct? http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64891.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64891.0)

Mine, the guest zone is disabled even after SC was enabled.
