DIR-655 reboots in wireless N mode with Asus ME371 (Jelly Bean)
« on: December 23, 2013, 03:23:17 PM »

Hello,

well I bought DIR-655 (A4 rev) in 2009 and it was working flawlessly till now. Since I am using ASUS Fonepad ME371 tablet (Jelly Bean) the router start rebooting when the tablet is connected via wireless N.

The issue was reported for more Android Jelly Bean based devices with combination of other D-Link routers (e.g. DGL-4500).

Examples:
[Q] Jelly Bean causes my router to reboot...: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217205
HTC One wi-fi keeps resetting my DLink DIR-655 router: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253364&page=1

I tried different settings as many users claimed but with no effect as well. I tried to update firmware to the latest one 1.37EU (solving Samsung S4 wireless issue - I hoped it could also fix problem for my Asus). Finally only thing which helped me was using Asus in G wireless mode. Now I am using the device in guest zone with WPA - TKIP encryption (G mode). Other devices uses the main wireless N connection. Router is now stable again.

Is there any solution how these problematic devices can be used stable in wireless N mode with DIR-655?

Thank you

Theres probably a driver incompatibility issue between the Wifi on the router and the ASUS phone. The WiFi drivers may or may not be fully compliant or out of date thus problems may exist when using N mode. Most Rev A routers unless if there is a critical need or there is a mass problem that prevents proper operation, there probably wont be a fix for this coming from D-Link.

Only other solution possible that might work would be to disable the WiFi on the Rev A and install a D-Link model DAP access point as a WiFi radio upgrade that maybe would work with the Asus device....I'd contact D-Link support and maybe ask them specifically what supports your Asus device...

Furry, thank you for response and taking care for my particular case. It seems that the issue includes more than just my Asus JB device and DIR-655 according to other user's references. I hope that D-Link will look at this what is going on here.
