Quality is diminishing a lot changing device room
« on: September 04, 2013, 01:02:12 PM »

I have two DHP 306.

When connected both in the same room, rate is 200/196.

When connected one room away, rate is 200/25.

And when I connect 2 rooms away, rate is 200/5.

Is there something I can do?

Link>Welcome!
  • What Hardware version is your DHPs? Look at sticker.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded?.
  • What region are you located?

Do both work in all different rooms while in same room?
Reverse swap units to see if same thing happens?

I would ensure that your power line wires are in good condition between rooms and any extra line noise be reduced.

You might take these two units to a friends or families place to check if problem follows as a test.

Firmware is INT6400-MAC-4-2-4203-04-4235-20100716-FINAL-B

I am in Canada.

Model = DHP-306AV
hardware A1 ver. 4.3.0

When a swap units, I get the same result.

I cannot change room, since my router is locked in a room.

I changed the devices in another room, which is 20x12 feet. The rate I get is 200/139

So that room is better. I wonder if there could be a power line cabling issue here.

Have you done a reset on these units?

You wouldn't need to take the router, just move the 306s to a different house of possible.
Do you have permission and access to these units?

There's not additional FW support for these units so possible they could be bad if you can maybe test these in a different house hold.

If not, I would recommend that you phone contact D-Link support and get additional help and review on this:

I have 2 DHP-306AV units. They are in different rooms (different electrical circuits). When I first bought them over a year ago I got a green light on both. A few weeks later that changed sometimes to a yellow light (drop in connection rate). After a few months I got a yellow light on one and a red light on the other. This state continued for many months. Now the lights are always off on both units (no connection at all)!!

However if I plug the units into the same circuit in the one part of the house, I get a green light on both! If I move the one unit to a different circuit on the other side of the same room, they no longer see each other at all.

So it seems the units still work, but not on different circuits!

Can anyone explain why this should be? I suspect one unit is faulty. Odd though that is works great in the same room yet not at all if on a different mains circuit.

Are you sure nothing has changed between these 2 circuits? Maybe the addition of a power device or something maybe causing this now if something has changed or added to either circuit I would presume since they work on the same circuit.
