It's the on the TSD site:
DIR-827 Firmware Release Notes

Hardware: Rev. A1
Date: 2012/10/09
Problems Resolved:
1. Remove 404 feature.
Enhancements:
1. Enhance iOS 6 compatibility.
---------------------- END ----------------------

Not much and wouldn't say anything spectacular or worthy of noting. I might skip this version unless users are effected by either one of these 2 items listed.

I will pass, I wanted to try and help Slimline but being it is not on the US site this could cause some problems/ conflict for me.

Back to Win 7 with my new 512Gb SSD, I will wait until they work some of the bugs out of Win 8, I still have not received my Win 8 media anyhow.

I would recommend to Slimline to give the Dir-827 a little time to become mature, I offed the Dir-655 early on for bugs and now it is legendary. The 827 is just going through the evolution of having everything fixed. Look at me, I swore they could NEVER beat the DIR-825 and here I have the 827 covering my whole 3K ft+ home with 5Ghz wifi, the 827 was good for a room or two on 5Ghz in the same house with the router located in the same place. Love the 827!

Enjoy your day!

Pat

I still like the 825... Was a great upgrade from the DGL-4500 which I'd swore I'd never use anything else.  ::)

Not look at me.  ;D

Ya, might give the 827 a bit more time and I would check out some other switches to see if they exhibit any packet issues. I wish we were on the same boarder to help Slim out.  :-\

How much was the 512 SSD?

I'm gonna give Win 8 a demo. See what it's all about.

Thanks for the info and help Patrick, thanks for helping make our world safe and up and running.  ;D

I got a OCZ Vertex 4 512Gb on sale for $379 with free shipping. I tried to clone the Win 8 installation with no luck.

Boot is crazy fast, I was using speed-boost with a USB 3.0 thumb drive so it was not as big of a difference as I thought. The boot went from 5-10 minutes to 15 seconds. Everything else is almost instant. Photo shop 4 runs a few seconds to load. My old HD was a WD 1TB Black Edition, it will be a external back up next week after I get the USB 3.0/E-SATA case.

Game load times improved major. An older game, FEAR 2 only takes a couple of seconds. The whole system is now getting a 7.9 on the windows score.

I am done except for a heat sink for my video card, 85C while gaming with a 30C room is a little hot for my liking.

Hey guys no updates for me yet, havent been able to test the switches or router on another ISP. We just had out doctor visit and found out she is 3cm dilated and 80% effaced! So I will be a busy man the next 18 years lol. The doctor told me if we werent holding our daughter in 24-48 hours he would eat his hat. I told him I would hold him to that.

I just installed a gigabyte 7950 oc windforce to upgrade from my old 5850 that I had bios flashed and clocked as a 5870. HUGE improvement, I love it. I am realllly wanting to jump on the SSD train. I have a spinpoint F3 sata drive as my logical boot drive. I am thinking for affordability sake I will get a 240gb drive. A 512gb would be fantastic however. I am gonna put it on my Christmas wish list lol.

Sorry I'm more than 2 years late, but for anyone in the future potentially having help on this....sorry I never did find a solution. I contacted dlink but never got anywhere. My daughter was born safe and sound that night of my last post and has kept me busy ever since lol. I have up trying to work with the 827 and bought an Asus rt-n66u. it has been a fantastic router handling everything I throw at it. Unfortunately my 827 has left a bitter taste in my mouth,  I don't know if I'll buy another dlink router without heavy consideration. My switches have been working fine with the Asus. The 827 was just a poor quality product I think which is too bad. I looked at the firmware updates and it doesn't appear as though the issues here were ever addressed.

Thanks for all the help even if I'm 2 years late furry and Patrick.

Thanks for the feed back, better late then never huh?

I wonder if it was addressed in the last FW version. I acquired a 827 and didn't see any issues with it. However I didn't check on the access control issue you posted about. Other than this, the 827 is a great router and is solid for it's design and operation. I feel that there may have been a issue with the switches and the 827 FW. Particularly wit those model switches. I don't use D-Link switches so I may have not had the opportunity to see this issue. The 857/827 is a solid router as well for being the first model routers with internal antenna. I still have my routers and of course, all good things must come to an end as they are EOL now. New routers are out there and I really enjoy the DIR-868L. Another great router from D-Link. I'm working on the 890L currently.

Maybe you can use the 827 as a 2ndary AP at some point or for back up.

Good Luck.

Probably not to the extent of your collection, but I do have a router collection/graveyard. My parents are still running a dlink dgs30d or something like that, its probably getting on 12-15 years old now. I am going to take either my old dir-655 or the 827 and hook it up there for them. Either will provide a nice upgrade and hopefully continued service as there old dino is finally ready to sleep forever. I havent looked into the newer dlink line but I will be looking to move to wireless AC soon so I will be sure to consider them, although I am feeling pretty fond of my Asus router currently. (Dont hate me)

No worries if you go with something else. Come back to the forums for help and information on your next purchase. Please give D-Link another chance. The DIR-866 maybe worth looking at.
