The power light blink orange and nothing more ..
« on: April 29, 2017, 06:19:02 AM »

Hello everyone of the forum.

I'm writing to ask for help from you. I live in Brazil and at the end of 2016 I bought the router DIR-895L, installed it as recommended manual, updated firmware for version 1.12 automatic process during installation setup.

It worked fine for a week, then began to show instability, as for example the wi-fi networks did not appear to connect, however the router showed that they were active, either in the 5 GHz band or in the 2.4 GHz band I got in touch with the support, and they asked me to upgrade to firmware 1.13, which I did promptly when they sent me the link. The problem persisted, no wi-fi network. New contact I counted with the support, until they asked me to send the device to them, because with the is under the guarantee they would analyze it.
After it arrived in the support, it took 1 month to have the answer, they started a new one, which arrived this week.
Again I did the installation and configuration as the manual, and it worked for 2 days, when I put my iphone in airplane mode and took it, I can not connect to the wi-fi network, even by typing the correct password. Then I turn off the DIR-895L, I wait for 5 minutes I call again, it has the white power lus and the internet light turns orange, blinking and does not leave until the opwer light restarts ... I think it may be a problem Of my internet service provider, I reboot the modem, everything is normal, I turn on the router and the problem persists, then I reset it, I leave the reset button for 20 seconds, when I release the power light it is flashing orange and nothing else happens , I try to connect to the router by plugging the cable into it and accessing the address 192.168.0.1 and I can not access this address.
Well anyone would have any suggestion of what I can do to make this router again functional, here in Brazil I will only get in touch with the support on Tuesday due to a holiday and I would like to try to solve it first, because if I have to send it again For the support will be another 2 months without the router.
Best regards,

Jackson Lima

Link>Welcome!

Download the FW update file, either version first:
 Emergency Recovery Mode

See if you can get the recovery mode web page to appear using the above linked process. Be sure to use IE11 or FF browser.

Thank you so much!!! It's Worked... ;

Edit:
But It worked for only 20 minutes and then returned to the original state ... I put firmware 1.13, could it be downgraded to version 1.12? If so, how can I do it?

Use same process and use the v1.12 FW file instead. Also have someone check the voltage and amps on the power adapter plug in tip. Make sure it's the same as whats on the power block sticker. Seen it were some power adapters go bad.

I did what you recommended, but it did not solve my problem, I recorded a video showing the lights of the router to better visualize what is happening.

Possible that there is a IP address conflict going on here, maybe. Your ISP Modem is a modem and has a built in gateway. It uses a default IP address of 192.168.0.1. So does DIR Series routers.
Might change the IP address of the 895L router from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 and reboot the router.

Also:
  • If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. Call the ISP and ask to see if the ISP modem can be bridged. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Also check the routers DHCP IP address maybe conflicting with the ISP modems IP address of 192.168.0.1. Check to see if this is the same on the ISP modem, and if modem can't be bridged, change the DIR router to 192.168.1.1 or .0.254.

I changed the IP of the modem, in case I put 192.168.0.5, even so it does not leave the white light of energy and orange of the internet .. I do not know how to configure the address of the DIR-895, since I can not get access to it by the address 192.168 .0.1, only when secure the reset and it goes into the firmware recovery more .. Any tips to access the router?

Can you change the IP address of the ISP modem to 192.168.1.1 instead? Then you can leave the 895L at 192.168.0.1. Be sure to apply the setting or save settings. Reboot or Power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute then power back on.

Then try a factory reset on the 895L with one LAN wired PC connected to the 895L. Let us know if you can access the 895Ls web page or still have the LED problem. IF the recovery page still appears, manually load v1.12 FW file using IE11 or FF and see what happens.

I did as you asked me, I changed the IP of the modem to 192.168.1.1, I hung up, I waited 1 minute, I did the firmware recovery, and the DIR-895 is the same, turns on the power light, it turns white, but The internet light turns orange for a while and the router reboots, so I can not access the router because it shows the message that the cable is disconnected ..

I have tried this, the problem is that I can not access the router by the address 192.168.0.1, because when it starts, the power light turns on, turns white, then turns on the light of the internet, it turns orange and then disappears, restarting the router , Making it unable to access it, as the message appears that the cable is disconnected.

So even with the router disconnected from the ISP modem and loading FW, you can't access the router at 192.168.0.1 at all? You should be able to as it doesn't require the modem to be connected. You can access any DIR series routers web page with out being connected to any ISP modem if you have a wired LAN cable PC connected to the router.

After you loaded the FW, did you set your PC back to auto obtain IP addressing in it's networking configuration?

I presume if you can't access the routers web page even after all this, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
