Author Topic: Some but not all cams lose remote access view and remote access settings change  (Read 580 times)

Firstly this is not an out of date firmware issue and the model is irrelevant. Enough of the constant blocking on this site of real issues.
For 2 of the cams I have I am able to see they are online in mydlink. Indeed I get motion detection emails sent from those cams. What does not work is remote view but just for those 2 cams. I also cannot access settings remotely for just those 2 dams. All of my other cams do not have this problem.
Blocking other time wasting questions:
1)   UPNP is off in the router and the cams. Contrary to what folks say its not required

Im thinking it’s a router issue but I have reserved IP addresses for all the cams.  The cams are quite a distance from he router so that may be a cause. However as I said the cams are online.

Usually unplugging power from the cams will fix it but it seems to recur.  Its always the distant cams it seems. Any QOS settings I can tinker with in the router?

Any ideas on the problem?

I desire competent well thought out answers. Resetting the cam is not a thought out answer. No dartboard answers please. Back up your suggestion with a technical explanation. Impress me.

My 933L, 936L and 960L are all accessible with the MDL services and iphone apps.

uPnP is enabled on my router along with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding is enabled on ALL of my cameras.
I don't use any QoS settings on my router for any cameras.

BTW you reference that thread but with all due respect you are barking up the wrong tree.

UPNP is not needed to run the MDL app per Dlink itself.  If not running the MDL app and desiring remote access then UPNP as you state is definitely needed.
The question IMO is does UPNP enhance the performance of the MDL app? I know with UPNP off the cam will time out after a set duration and one has to connect again. But with UPNP off I get rid of any security risks related to UPNP. Any other advantages to using UPNP when using the app? Please ask DLINK for us.

Or my problem might simply be a WIFI signal issue as the troublesome are the ones farthest from the router.

No, just wanted to make sure you followed up with your other posting.

I never said it was "definately needed". Just said that what works with my configuration and my cameras. Never have has any connections issues like what you see with yours.

Unless your seeing issues with your system when uPnP is abled, you can keep it enabled. it takes a lot of have someone try to hack or do anything to your system from the out side if uPnP is enabled. Not everyone is trying to hack your system. Most hackers are not really interested in most home routers. Nothing that would bring them any value. There after big businesses.

Have you tried a friends phone or ipad with a different mobile carrier (install MDL and log in with his account) and see if it works. If it does, your phone may the problem. If not, prob a networking/router issue.

Check the log on your router and you will see zillions of scans with UPNP emabled.

Not seeing any log entries about scans. Never have and I test different routers. All work well. I asked about uPnP and D-Link has closed any uPnP security issues.

Seems all this was mis-configurations and bad Wifi signals. This seem to be only your issue. Glad you finally figure it out.  ::)

Enjoy.
