D-LINK DIR-615 Connection Resetting #help
« on: May 14, 2017, 07:34:17 AM »

Hello!

I just bought a d-link dir-615 router (t1 ver 20.11) and installed internet at my home (05/12/17). Unfortunately I canīt download anything or use the internet properly because my connection keep's resetting. It happens every 5 minutes, so I called my internet provider and they asked me to test the connection with the Ethernet cable connected directly to my laptop,so I did, and the connection was stable. They told me it was a router configuration problem and that I was on my own.

So I looked up the error on the internet and tried a few things like:

"-Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel.Tried 3 channels
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected? - 02 mobile phones and 01 laptop.
Any cordless house phones? No
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Yes there are other WiFi Routers in the area, I shortened the range to 20mhz.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic."

Since the recieved error when the internet resets is "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET then  ERR_CONNECTION_RESET"

I also tried:

Using a open DNS, tried " 208.67.222.222  // 208.67.220.220 | 8.8.8.8 // 8.8.4.4", also used the suggested DNS by DNS Benchmark program.

Using command prompt: ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /flushdns.

upgrading router firmware.

Iīm running out of hope, after hours searching the web I found this forum and read a lot of posts, If you guys canīt help me then im sure no one can and iīll probaly have to buy a new router ( which sucks because this one is brand new).

Hope to hear from someone. Cheers.

My router version is T1 and my firmware version is currently 20.11.

I live in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, I know this forum beta is only for registered owners of D-Link products in the USA but I'm pretty desperate in trying to solve this problem. I can't reach the D-link BR support.

ISP Service here is West Internet, I donīt understand much, its a broadband internet, I dont have a modem the router is configured as PPPoE Mode.

So the router is connected to a wall out let
Try manual WAN port speed instead of Automatic.

For PPPoE connections, make sure ALWAYS ON is selected on the router under PPPoE configurations.

Test other devices with the 615 router as well. Do other devices exhibit this issue?

You could try this FW version:

Yes the router is connected to a wall out let.

Right now iīm at work, when I get home Iīll try a manual WAN port speed instead of automatic ( which speed you suggest ? my internet is 30mbs plan ) and iīll check if "always on" is selected on the router.

If that dosnīt fix it iīll try v20.12.

I was thinking of downgrading the FW version to (20.07B02), read in a other forum a user with the same problem as mine who got get fixed by downgrading.

All devices connected to the router exhibit this issue and when I connect the ethernet directly to the computer it works fine thatīs how I know it must be a router problem.

Iīll let you know if it worked when I get home. cheers.

So, I tried the FW upgrade, It worked for the night, but next morning right back to the same problem.

Called D-Link BR support and they said that it's not comum but this model presents this problem and they dont have a solution.

Now i'm waiting for a new DIR-615 to test if it's going to work or not.

Hope it work's, thanks for the help.

What model modem do you have? Also, do you ever lose the connection on a wire/ethernet connection? You said it was stable when you tried, but being stable once is different then never having a problem. From a wired connection I would suggest doing a Ping - t <server IP> to a IP on your ISP and see if anything drops when your wireless connections do.
