DIR-605L Noob setting up problems
« on: February 11, 2017, 08:45:23 AM »

1) As a noobie it is very irritating to be automatically logged out after about 15 sec of no activity. I am just trying to find out the best setup for me and can not find anywhere to change that setting so that I can get it setup the best way for me. Using FW 2.07
2) I have a modem with IP address 192.168.0.1 already, and want to change my dlink IP to 192.168.1.1. I have tried it about 5 times and each time it refuses to recognize the new password I have been using. Therefore I would need to do a hard reset. What is the problem?!
3) Up to now I have been using a linksys operating with DD-WRT and if I ever changed IP from dynamic to static it would do it all automatically on a reboot. This on the otherhand, keeps the old IP until the WIFI unit is shut down. Doesn't reboot mean it totally shuts down and restarts like every other computer does when you do a reboot?  Or does Dlink mean by rebboot only a partial reboot? If so is there an option for doing a full reboot?
BTW the router works fine, but the software/GUI configuring tools is dreadful.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

The UI should last a bit longer before being logged out. As long as you are doing something with in the UI, it should keep alive before logging out.

Changing the routers IP address to .1.1 is supported. Should be able to save the setting and it should do a reboot automatically after you select Save or ask you to to reboot. Any reboot features should be seen under System Tools or Maintenance.
Once it reboots, be sure that your PC has the new IP address string 192.168.1.###. You might reboot the PC during the reboot of the router so the new networking changes take effect.

Reboot means a full shut down of router services and the system re-starts. This includes wifi.

Be sure to clear all browser caches, exit the browser then reopen the browser before navigating to the routers web page.
Try using, Opera, IE11 or FF browser.
