Choppy voip!
« on: January 19, 2009, 02:36:20 PM »

I have a 24 mbps connection with up to 9mbps up stream, so i should theoretically be able to use voip without any issue, however, whenever im on wifi. not connected via cable! the voice is really choppy! for instance, when i use fring on my iphone with 3g, my voice is heard crystal clear on the other side, and i hear whomever is talking to me perfectly. when i switch to wifi however on the iphone, using my WBR, the sound quality is degraded, and very choppy. i used the same program on my other connection back home (512 Kbps using a linksys router) and the sound quality was spectacular. so what is the problem here? can someone help me please?

also for some odd reason whenever i try connecting my MacBook Pro using wifi the router doesnt give me an ip address, i have to manually put in an address then go to the setup page (192.168) and reboot the router, and put it in DHCP mode, only then will it work! what am i doing wrong?

regards
