Title: W215 /iOS8 Pin Activations
Post by: CTBailey on December 02, 2014, 10:09:57 AM
Not sure if anyone else is having this issue.  Attempted to activate two of the W215 smart plugs today.  Attempted one and received a message of "PIN number incorrect".  The number was obtained from the activation card and also the back of the plug as a verification.  Kept receiving the same message.  Thinking it might be an issue with one of the plugs, I tried with the other one.  Received the same message.

Just got off the phone with CS.  Stated that it was a "known issue" with ios8 / iPhone 6 and that the were working on the issue.  They offered a "work around" by "find a friend with an android and activate with your account".  LOL.  I am usually pretty open to "work around's" because software updates can be pretty dynamic....and I get that... however I found that resolution attempt pretty funny.  If this was a known issue, you would think they would announce that.

They are supposed to call be back within 24-48 hours.  We will see how that goes.

We sincerely regret that at this time there is an issue regarding the pin code step with the Smart Plug DSP-W215.  This currently only affects units running 1.00 firmware.  We are aware of the issue and are working actively to resolve the situation in the form of an update to the mydlink Home app.  We will update here when more information becomes available and ask for the public's patience as we work on the solution.

I had the same problem on my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.  The solution is to download the older Dlink app for smart plugs on the iPhone and add the devices that way.

Thank you for the feedback and work around. We hope that D-Link will be coming out with a complete fix for the DSPs.

Thank you.
