Emergency room DIR-1360
« on: July 22, 2020, 05:16:48 AM »

Hi there,

I believe I have a similar device to the DIR-1360 (DIR-853-A3). On my device the emergency room does not work using the reset button.

I was wondering if anyone here can check if it works on their device please and let me know.

The reason I am asking is that I manage to build openwrt for this device (mine and I am pretty sure it would work on the DIR-1360 as well) but without this function it's just too hard to recover the router in case of a bad flash.

Thanks,

K

This process should be working:
Emergency Recovery Mode
Be sure to use the recommended web browser...

Hi FurrNutz and thanks for your reply.

No it does not work actually. I have soldered pins and have access to the serial console and can see the output. I can start the emergency room from serial but not from the router itself. I have tried with every single button I could.

I thought at first it was something I could change in the uboot variables. I compared the strings between mine and another router where it works (DIR-1960) but it seems it that the option is compiled in uboot itself and not an option that can be enabled/disabled. My last bet is to check if it works on the DIR-1360 (mine is 853).

I was hoping someone has the device here who can confirm if it works or not but it seems the device is not used a lot worldwide. Very few posts found on google regarding the router.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.

We find that chat or phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Let us know how it goes please.

I had the same question. Local support by phone is pointing on local service provider, saying nothing they could do, no firmware, no advice. Local provider Etisalat only could support with technician visit which will say, that router is broken because of power outage so no repair or replacement. And Etisalat is charging for technician visit same amount of money I could buy a new router.

So easier to buy a new one. Meanwhile people in Africa facing issues with potable water.

This is how it goes.  ;D
