DCS-855L Drops Wireless Connection & Cannot Reconnect
« on: November 12, 2015, 12:21:55 AM »

Hi all!

[Starting a thread here for DCS-855L since I cannot find a dedicated one for this baby camera.]

I've recently purchased the above model. It's very beautiful, robust and I really like the 720p video it offers unlike the DCS-825L model. I've set it up without problems in two Android phones and our Android tablet (all running Lollipop 5.0 and above).

The problem I am facing is most probably with the camera itself. In random times (it could be 2 hours, it could be 1 day) the camera will disappear from my wireless network. In fact, I have noticed that the camera reboots itself and when it finishes booting, the Green LED is on as it should be, but the blue (cloud) LED start blinking slowly. After that I cannot access the camera anymore and I have to hard reset it and run the setup wizard all over again!

Any ideas???

EDIT: I just noticed that if I try to connect to the camera's web interface through a browser it says "File not found". Perhaps the camera's firmware is not installed correctly and therefore it randomly reboots? Is there any way to reinstall the firmware?

Useful Info:
  • Camera Hardware Rev.: A
  • Firmware Installed: 1.03 (latest)
  • Distance from router: 3 meters (same room)
  • Mobile application used for setup: v1.07 (latest)
  • Wireless congested area: No. Just a couple of other wireless networks around.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool: DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

Hello Furry!

I hail from Europe, Greece! I hope you can make an exception and offer me some help, since I know this forum is only for US customers, as stated in the top of this page.

  • My router is a D-Link DIR-860L. I also own a D-Link DNS-320L NAS. Fanboy I know :P
  • Wireless mode: 802.11n only / Channel: Auto / Trans. Rate: Best / Width: 20Mhz / Security: WPA2 AES
  • I don't think that DCS-855L has the capability of setting up a static IP.  I have even tried its web-interface (via http://x.x.x.x/eng/mainFrame.cgi) and mydlink.com but i don't see any relevant option.

Also note, that I have tried 3 applications to set up the camera. mydlink Baby Camera Monitor ver. 1.7 (currently on Play Store), mydlink Lite v3.5 as well as mydlink Baby Camera Monitor ver. 2.0 which was removed from Play Store for technical reasons. Oddly enough, the last one seems to be the most stable for me as well as having the most trouble-free installation  ???

Regarding the uPnP, I have it enabled on my router.

Try using Auto Channel Width and set a manual channel to 1, 6, 11 or 13. Disable WPS and set Local Connection only for IPv6 ON the router.

Set Auto Channel Width > Done.
Set to channel manually to 11 > Done.
Disable WPS > Done.

... and set Local Connection only for IPv6 ON the router.

Regarding the above... I have no idea what it is and where to go το set it :) I found an option in Advanced Network "Enable IPv6 Multicast Streams" which was enabled. Is this ok?

I'd disable IPv6 features.

48 hours have passed and the camera works flawlessly! I have also set up an IP reservation in the router since i could not set a static IP on the camera. I don't know if this helped or not.

I think our job here is done FurryNutz! Thanks again!
