admin pw lost, how to reset it
« on: February 22, 2011, 05:06:29 PM »

system reinstalled, lost the software installed before in my computer, including that of router DLink DIR 601. With the installation CD of router, it always asks for pw for admin, leaving it blank is not working. I dont remember if there is pw set up for this or not. Does reset to factory default setting solve this problem? I tried to reset but seems not working. please help.

Yes, pressing in the reset on the back of the router (for about 5 seconds) should cause the green power light to turn to a yellowish-orange color.

Once that happens, release the reset button and wait until all the lights look normal again.  That should look something like:

  • Power = solid green
  • Internet (ball looking thing) = solid green
  • Any port you have connected = solid or flashing green

Once that's done, check to see the gateway IP on your Local Area Connection.  Should be 192.168.0.1.  Pop that in your browser and hit "Log In"
