Can't connect DAP-1155 to the internet
« on: January 21, 2014, 03:29:26 AM »

Hi all.

I hope I got the right section. Let me know if it's the wrong bit.

I've been spending a few hours trying to get it to work, but I'm getting nowhere. I was hoping somebody here could offer some suggestions.

I'm trying to hook an ethernet arduino into the DAP-1155, so I can use it where there is no cables available. I can't get the DAP-1155 to hook up to the net.

I can get into, and fiddle with the options (it's web page), and have gone through all the setup a few times, but not working.

It's finding the wifi signal fine, and seems to be connecting with it, with strong signal strength. But it's not going letting internet through. I've hooked it into my laptop, shut down the wifi signal and tried to use the ethernet connection, but nothing comes through (apart from the DAP-1155 webpage).

I've got a D-Link DSL-526B (modem), hooked into a D-Link DIR-645 router. Is there some setting in there that's stopping them from talking? I've played with a few of them, with no results.

I've also updated to the latest firmware: DAP1155A1 FW101B03

If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Are you trying to use this as an AP or bridge or repeater?

Wireless Configurations on the main host router
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion and Good Neighbour Policy
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • Any cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Hi.

Thanks for the help.

My hardware version is: 1.0

I'm in Australia.

And the firmware has been updated to: DAP1155A1 FW101B03 (the latest one I could download)

There is one other wifi signal (neighbours), but it has a different name.

I went through all of your suggestions, disabled all security to see if that'd work, no go.

I've factory reset the modem, router & bridge a few times.

I'm trying to use the DAP-1155 as a bridge, to connect ethernet devices to the wireless network.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

And you went thru the set up wizard found on page 16 of the users manual and still not working?

If the DAP isn't working with even with the main host routers security disabled, I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support for your region and ask for level 2 support and see what they find.

Let us know how it goes...

Columnmn, try setting it up as a "wireless client" that might work. Once you got that working you might want to try other modes ?

Hi all.

It was a weird IP conflicts going on. I rung up the helpdesk, and they got me to change the IP a few times on both routers, then IP's on the computer on and off, and eventually it worked. Well briefly.

It'll work after a reset, but then stop working randomly. It'll stop working from anywhere from 2 hours - 12 hours. I'll need to give the helpdesk another ring, see if I can sort it out.

Still being unrealiable. Rather frustrating.

I think I figured out the problem.

I think the wireless channel is going out of whack. It works fine if reset and I'm not doing anything else on any other computer, but when I start doing work, there is more load on the channel, and the router auto adds another.

How do I make it so I can set it on a stuck channel? Then I can do the same on the main router also.

Ya, you need to set a manual OPEN and clear channel on the main host router first...use InSSIDer app to find one. Then connect the 1155 and it will use the same channel.

Yeah. Try disable "enable auto channel scan", and select a channel that you like, make sure it is the same channel on both devices.
