Title: Failed to reinstall from resetting Windows 10 mobile B14393 (Anniversary Update)
Post by: nettewurk on January 01, 2017, 08:00:37 AM
Recently, I reset Lumia 950 XL to remove the traces of uninstalled apps to recover spaces and maybe speed as well.

However, after recovering my installed apps from OneDrive, myDlink Lite app was unable to install.
Since the store (searched thru direct link coz' it cannot search the app maybe due to region) indicates
I own it but no Install button (note indicated not a Win10 app but specifies can be installed up to 10 devices, weird)

Tried to access my Windows Store's My Library but once selected, after prompting to install it in the internal storage,
a notification error displayed, try again later - something happened on our (Microsoft) ends.

From File Explorer app which I have a copy of the xap file (mydlinklitev3621.xap), I selected it but resulted that
it can't be installed.

Last thing is the developer mode where I load it from 127.0.0.1's App window but ran again an error with
missing .appx filename query parameter.

Before I proceeded to technical support, I searched the web and found the forum below
which the issue is still unresolved.

It is odd that it is working (can be reinstalled) in Windows 10 build 10586 (November update)  using
Lumia 630 but now not working in build 14393 (Anniversary Update).

Did Microsoft remove it due to app cleaning if their requirements are not met?

Desperate whom to inquire it since Microsoft TS site directed me to D-Link to report it.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

Sorry for the late reply but the support office hasn't returned my call since they need to inquire these to their software engineering department at that time.

I hope that D-Link would release soon that would be working for Windows 10 so you could at least use it on phone and specially on desktop without resorting to Java on IE11.  Getting frustrated why did they discontinue its improvement using latest version of Windows 10

I don't think Windows 10 Mobile devices are supported. I would phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this.

It's obvious now that it  isn't supported.   But originally it was working on builds 10240, original release of Win10 and November 2015 update (10586).   However, in the middle part of 14393 (Anniversary update) wherein Windows store had its app cleansing, requiring apps to submit Microsoft's requirement compliancy, Store is now reporting that mydlink Lite isn't supported in Windows 10.  It worked before and now why not?

Let's say that it's not supported then, I'm only an individual but I would like to petition D-Link to make the existing app to become UWP and comply Microsoft requirement which maybe a minor revision from its base working code in previous build of Windows 10.  If FB/Instagram their own development tool for its conversion, Project Islandwood may help convert its iOS app to Win10.   Just a suggestion.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me and I know there are many out there, still waiting for its revision to work in present Windows 10 release.

I heard that D-Link wasn't going to support Windows any more in this region. You should contact your regional D-Link support office and find out what they are doing for your region. Could be different.

Tried to email many times but got no response. Called but they didn't return any response after telling me that they'll get back on it. Any sites to bypass or resolve the installation?

Not that I know of. I'd ask for escalated support and keep on them to see if there going to resolve this or not.
