Whiteout video
« on: November 15, 2015, 12:02:36 PM »

I have four DCS-935L cameras and a white out problem occurs with all of them. 1.07 installed but previous did as well.

The symptoms are that you can point at a more lighted area, in my case outside through a window to an area that never gets any direct sun on the house (but obviously the street gets that light). The camera will work for a while then all of a sudden white out with only the time code visible. Pointing it inside does not cure it immediately as even then it will remain washed out for a while. In a lower light level area like my Lanai or anywhere indoors, all 4 cameras do not exhibit this.

Possible causes:
1.  If you look at other areas, there is a FAQ that says the problem is caused by anti-flicker firmware and that one should load the advanced video settings and uncheck this. However the DCS-935L does not have this option in its settings.
2. Camera is going into night mode and thus washing out. However the firmware setting to allow Day mode only does not work for me. Even putting tape over the sensor to prevent this does not work.
3. A reply from Dlink finally. Go to the Image Setup in advanced settings on the Dlink website for your cameras. The dropdown Frequency has 3 choices Off, 60 hz and 50 hz. Dlink recommended that it be set to Off. So far this has worked, but I am waiting for a non-rainy bright day to make sure.

It seems like this could be fixed by firmware, but I am happy to turn off the video frequency setting since it doesn't appear to be of much value wrt to my camera usage.
