DCS-930L Wireless FTP Setup
« on: March 18, 2016, 10:33:17 AM »

Hey guys,my first post here  ;D . So,i have this issue with the 930L ipcam, basically what i want is to record images from it to my NAS FTP Server.Whenever the camera is connected through the ethernet cable to the router, everything works just fine,as soon as i unplug the Ethernet, leaving the camera in wireless mode,it stops recording/uploading to my local FTP server. What i suspect is,in FTP settings, host is internal IP 192.168.X.XXX,when the camera is wired picks it up just fine,as soon as it's unplugged and connected through wireless, camera "behaves" like it's outside the network and obv the internal ip won't work anymore. Maybe setting my external IP as host in FTP settings would work, but that would mean my recordings would need to take a tour around the (internet) world and then land on my NAS,where all i would want is for the images to go straight from camera to NAS same way as it does when plugged with an ethernet cable. Also, the configuration page in wireless mode is extremely sluggish, same thing, can't access it using it's internal IP,only through mydlink account.
Maybe i'm missing something?Any help would be much appreciated!Thank you!

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

Is the camera connecting to the main host routers wireless after the LAN cable is disconnected? That needs to be made before anything else.
If it's connected wirelessly to the main host router, then check the DHCP Client table on the main host router for a different IP address for the wireless connection. I presume it maybe different than the LAN cable connection since these are two different MAC addresses I believe for each connection. Input the wireless IP address you see into the FTP settings were the LAN IP is set.

Hey Furry, thanx for the answer.Yes,the camera connects wirelessly to the router (which the NAS is also connected to) and i am able to connect to it through mydlink account (live feed and settings, altough very laggy). On router's page, the camera shows up connected,DHCP assigns same ip as cable,in this case 192.168.1.109 (but it shows it's connected through WiFi insted of LAN port).WiFi b,g,n,WPA2PSK...Seems camera connects to router just fine, connects to internet, only the local network part seems off.Oh and the camera is HW ver. A1 with the latest firmware available on dlink site.

Seems odd.

Have you tried power cycling the camera and main host router and possibly the NAS to see if the FTP connection is made?

Man it's always something that simple that screw you up!  :D :D :D Power cycling cam and router and now works perfectly!I can connect to the cam through Chrome and works instantly,no more lag! I suspect it was router's fault, maybe a DHCP bug or something.Oh well...Can i ask you last question Furry? Is it possible to record video instead of snapshots? ( it's configured at 1 picture every second now).
Thank you again for your time!Cheers! ;)
