DCS-5300g does not work with new Vista update
« on: March 14, 2008, 07:47:13 AM »

I get a "HTTP 400" message on my Vista machines after the latest Vista update.  My XP machines work fine.  I have rebooted the camera, router, machines same result.  I can only open the camera ftom an XP machine.

What is the Hardware version of the camera? (located on the sticker under base of the camera)
What is the firmware version running on the camera? (Log into the camera, and click on Configuration > Status to find the firmware version)

What update did you download for the computer, and did the camera work before the update?

Do you have the Silverlight add on for IE7 installed in your browser?

It's hardware A1.  Firmware 1.02.   The updates were KB905866 and KB946041.  And yes I did install Silverlight 1.0.30109.0.  And yes the camera worked before the updates.  It still works on my XP machines.

Thanks

You will need to remove the Silverlight application. Once removed, the DCS-5300 should be viewable from the web browser again.

Ok that worked.  Will there be an update for the camera so it will work with silverlight installed?

Note: The problem with Silverlight and the DCS-5300G was posted in 2008. It's now 2010 and D-Link has done nothing to fix this problem. It's bad enough that the DCS-5300G only works with Internet Explorer, but to add insult to injury, D-Link won't even update the DCS-5300G to support IE properly. (Telling you, you have to uninstall Silverlight is not an acceptable solution.)
The DCS-5300G is essentially an unuseable, unsupported product. It staggers me that D-Link continues to seel them. :'(

Firmware for DCS-5300G B2 model cams was added on 3/17/2009 that addresses the Silverlight problem!

My cam works fine with IE - accessible from anywhere in the world!  What problems are you having?  Did you load the ActiveX control required for IE?
