Title: DHP-W306AV - Strange DHCP behaviour
Post by: DuffMcShank on December 24, 2012, 05:02:43 PM
I have an existing WIFI network directly from my Zyxel P2602HWT ADSL modem/router. I have purchashed the W307AV starter kit, and set up the W306AV as a separate ssid. Depending on where I am in the house, my units will need to connect to one of the two wireless ssid's.

The W306AV automatically got it's ip from my Zyxel router through DNS.

My problems are:
Most devices I connect to the W306AV wireless network can't get an IP. If I assign static IP's to the devices, they work fine.
My Macbook air CAN get an ip through DHCP and the W306AV network, but its really slow, 2+ minutes. After that, it seems to get the same IP it had with the Zyxel wireless network.

Any way to workaround this unstable DHCP behavior? I've tried setting the W306AV up as wireless repeater, i.e. same ssid and security as the Zyxel, but then my devices never swap to the Zyxel automatically.

It was related to my Zyxel P2602HWT-F3 router, it couldn't handle DHCP requests from the same MAC from two different wireless networks.

Ended up replacing it with another router I had lying around, now it works perfectly :)
