The dlink dir-615 is not working... The modem is working perfect, because its the internet that im using right now (its connected directly to my laptop, so i know its the router for sure) But i want to make the internet on my modem wireless, but the dlink router has the orange globe light turned on (as im typing it still has the light on) and i just dont know whats wrong with it. I have already tried reseting it like 2 times, and it still doesn't work. When i connect my router, all it does is acquire the network address, and it just stays there, so no ip address will be detected... I might just buy a lynksys router, d-link sucks. This router was bought years ago by the way. It hasn't been used since like now.

NOTE: It isnt the computer, i tried disabling the firewall, and reconnecting, but it just stays in 'renewing ip address' (the same things happen with all of the other computers that try to connect to it in my home) I click on the wireless icon and then on 'support' and next to IP Address it says "Invalid Ip Address"... The globe still remains orange on the router... What can it be?

What ISP service do you have? DSL or Cable?
What ISP modem do you have? Stand alone or does it have a built in router by chance?
How are you connecting to the 615? Wired or Wireless?
What wireless modes are you running? Mixed? Single?
What FW version is currently loaded?
Any cordless phones in the house?

Sorry meant to say 615.

Wireless modes are on the routers web page that broadcast A/B/G and N modes. Sometimes you don't need all the modes ON of your not using them. You can change these to single mode G or Mixed G and N if you have N supported devices. If you don't then I recommend single mode G in mean time.

What Firmware version is loaded on the router? Thats on the Status page of the router.

I have the mixed wireless modes N,G, and B...
I have firmware version 3.01

I am connected wired I believe, the ethernet cable is connected from my modem to the router and then from the router to the computer. But just to make sure (because im a bit confused on this one) what do you mean by wired and wireless?

Wired is how you had it all connected. Lan Wired. Wireless means that you don't use any wires to connect to the routers wireless signal.

I would try this, power down everything, turn everything off, Modem router and PC. Leave off for 30-1minute.

Turn on the ISP modem first and let it sync to the ISP Service. Then turn on the router. It should connect and the globe should start blinking Green or Blue I believe, I can't remember the color. After you turn on the router you can turn on the PC as well and let it boot. Is the PC the only thing you are using with the router?

Oh okay.
I have already tried that yesterday, and when i turned it on, the light was still orange. I have several computers at home, but the host computer for the router is this one. I have even tried to clone my mac address, and that didnt work...

Lets turn off all the PCs or disconnect all the wired PCs and just use one to be sure.
I would do a factory reset of the router using the back button, hold down for 15-30 seconds. While this is going on, power cycle the ISP modem and let it sync once more.

I am  just using one by the way non of the other computers are connected to it... Even if the host computer tried to connect to it, it wouldnt, becaus eit would just stay on the 'renewing ip address'...
I have already reseted to factory settings 3 times and it still didnt work.

Try swapping out the cable between the ISP modem and the router?

Thatnks for the siggestion, but i dont think that would make a difference, the cords are fine. I guess i wwill just have to do what you suggested me to do t first. Turn of for 3minutes or 30 minutes  ???
The ip address just keeps renewing itself, and it never connects...

might be the modem not handing off or working right with the router. It seems the modem works with a PC direct, just wondering if something is happening with btwn the 2. Any chance you have a friend or nieghbor that you can test the router at?

The modem is fine, trust me. There was a big thunderstorm the other day, and we replaced the modem yesterday for a new one, so thats not the problem. The router, i just dont know whats wrong with. It just doant want to connect and the orange glob is on. I might just buy a new lynksys router. I will probably try to clone the mac address again...

Ok, try a different router. You don't have to Mac clone the router to the modem. Most cable modems don't need this. I would ask the ISP if you need to however. Possible that something happened to the router when you had the power outage. Let us know
