Cannot disable FTP
« on: February 21, 2018, 04:08:32 PM »

Having a weird problem with my DNS 320, I cannot disable FTP server, or rather I can but it enables itself shortly after.

None of my user accounts have FTP access so I am at a loss, whether this a bug or if my drive has been compromised in some way. I get regular guest login errors on the logs too but no IPs.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What browser are you using?

Where are you switching off the FTP server?  In 'Management' --> 'Application Management' --> 'FTP Server' --> 'FTP Server Status'  or in 'Management' --> 'Account Management' --> 'Network Shares'?

You need to Stop the FTP Server under 'FTP Server Status' and remove the service under 'Network Shares'.  If that doesn't work then switch off the server and remove the service and, when there is no access to the unit switch it off, including unplugging the power supply for about 5 minutes (this allows time for capacitors to discharge so removing everything from memory, configuration is written to disk).  Then power it up again and see if the FTP server remains off.
