### [SERIOUS BUG] 2332L CANNOT PROPERLY RECORD VIDEO
« on: January 10, 2016, 02:54:55 AM »

I've just bought a DCS-2332L and I confirm the bug with the "Total cycling recording size" setting still exist with firmware 1.07.00.
Read the following threads/posts to have an idea of it (same issue of other D-Link cams):
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=60374.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63214.msg257828#msg257828
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=57625.msg235551#msg235551

Read the following post to see the way D-Link is tackling this problem (hint: they don't even understand what you're talking about):
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=60374.msg248861#msg248861

To have an overview of my experience read the following post: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=60374.msg264267#msg264267

I'm making this post only to make people aware of the issue by confirming its still existence. If D-Link do cares about its customers it should take proper action by acknowledging the issue and by trying to solve it.

UPDATE-1: In the thread http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64184.0 I've mentioned another issue with this IP Camera, take a look if you care. Apart from that I guess one way of solving the video recording issue with this camera is to do a bit of reverse engineering/hacking to fix the firmware yourself and upload it to the camera. I personally don't have much time to do it but if you care you can download the firmware from http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63584.msg260211#msg260211, unpack the .zip/.bin file by following http://dns-300.sergeyzh.org/wiki/howto/unpack_dlink_firmware and do the reverse engineering of the code with IDA, you can have an idea by reading http://www.devttys0.com/2013/10/reverse-engineering-a-d-link-backdoor/. Alpha Networks, the company mentioned in http://www.devttys0.com/2013/10/reverse-engineering-a-d-link-backdoor/ is the same company (D-Link spin-off in Taiwan) where is working the programmer I quasi-mentioned in my other thread http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=64184.0. In that thread you can also see how you can read the javascript code stored inside the IP Camera that is used to execute the recording commands, read it to have an idea of what you'll be modifying.

UPDATE-2: Some more useful stuffs here http://dose.0wnz.at/ipcams/

Since your concerns (satisfaction and otherwise) extend beyond the reach of this forum, I recommend contacting D-Link Technical Support, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email. While posting issues in this forum is a great means of sharing information with other members and notifying D-Link of issues, D-Link escalates issues for resolution based on the volume of calls received through the official D-Link support desk. If D-Link receives a large number of calls pertaining to the same issue, that issue is more likely to be escalated as a problem for investigation and resolution. As such, in addition to posting issues in this forum, forum members are encouraged to call the toll free D-Link support desk to report their issue: 1-888-851-6464.
