Random lagspike up to 2500ms!
« on: August 01, 2012, 12:03:51 PM »

Hi, I'm using D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N and I get random lagspike that goes up to a bit more than 2500 ms! It lasts from 1-10 minutes and sometimes it stays at around 300 while I usually have 50...

I think I'm using the 1.4 drivers for the Wireless Connection Manager, Windows 7 Ultimate.
Specs:
AMD Radeon 6970 XFX
Intel i5 2500k
Asus P8P67 PRO REV B3

I'm not sure but sometimes I think if I reconnect to my internet, it fixes itself.. But it doesn't work all the time.

If I missed any valuable information, let me know.

Thanks,
PetruZ

EDIT:

I recently kept updating while this happened, and it seems like when I get 100% signal to my router, it starts lagging. And when it stops I get around 80-95% signal.

Link>Welcome!
Ensure you are using the lastest drivers from the web site for the DWA?
What region are you located?

Some things to try: - Log into the host routers web page.

Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP If your host router has this option.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming.

Link>Wireless Installation Considerations
What wireless modes are you using on the host router?
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.

Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Just a quick reply before I'll end this day.

I am living in Sweden and I'm pretty sure 1.4 is the latest version
