how pen drive is detected
« on: November 03, 2009, 12:22:26 PM »

i just want to know which processes are checked or executed in operating system(Explain with windows and Linux both) if a pen drive is inserted . Where from it gets the information that the pen drive is of "what space(i.e it is of 4 gb )" and how it knows that the pen drive is having "which file system(ntfs, fat,ext2 etc.)".

You would be looking for information on USB Mass storage drivers in particular, followed by general disk handling in those OS'es.  I don't think this is quite the forum to find what you are looking for.
